I want to copy with mouse one line from one vim terminal to another vim terminal. This line is huge and has a hidden character (I presume at the beginning) that I do not want to copy. So I want to copy from the first character I consider good to the last character I consider good too. The problem is the copy with mouse does not go to the end of the line because this line is huge. It goes only to the end of the terminal.The question is how can I copy with mouse from character A to character B that is not visible on the terminal ? BTW these characters are a series of visible @. One per line on many lines. But they are not lines. Using the arrow key there is only 2 lines with these @ in the middle. This shows between the first real line and the second real line.

Gaming and Software Performance - iMac 5k vs 27" iMac
How big is the difference between the gaming capabilities of the iMac 5k (default hardware: i5 3,5GHz, 1TB Fusion, AMD RADEON R9 M290X) in comparison to the fully upgraded 27" non-retina iMac (i7 3,5GHz, Fusion Drive, GTX 780m)? Which one is better and how big is the difference, is it worth deciding for the 5k version or is the non retina iMac significantly better?
Background App Refreshes have stopped working in iOS?
I've got apps on my iPhone that use Background App Refresh to update their content periodically, such as Pocket and my todo app. But for some reason, they have recently stopped running Background App Refresh for some reason.
Background App Refresh is still enabled for all my apps though, in Settings.
Anyone know why this is happening, and what I can do to fix it?

Yosemite software now cannot save numbers file to excel
After downloading Yosemite software I now cannot save a numbers file to xls.
Yosemite: launchd scheduled jobs do not run
Since upgrading to Yosemite, all my launchd scheduled jobs do not run on their specific time set.
The system log does not have any launchd related logs that can hint what the problem is.

Word attachment file name prints as icon with ? inside when I print email
I have a Mac with Word 2011. Every now and then when I print an email with a Word attachment, my HP printer prints an icon with a question mark instead of the Word file name.
Cannon iR C3380i Scanning Issue
We have a Canon iR C3380i Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier machine in the office. I could install the Printer and Fax driver successfully on my MacBook Pro Retina 13" running on Yosemite.
but I'm having issues using the Scanner (Network scanner).
On windows there was a software known as PaperPort which I could use for scanning but on Mac I'm totally lost (I'm totally new to Mac).
Could anyone help me how to use the scanner again on Mac? I have tried the canon website but I could only find the updated drivers for the printer.
And I had no luck with googling...
How to know which Apple ID is used to lock iPad if the display is dead?
I bought an iPad mini (Wifi only) and gave it to my nephew as a gift. He switched on the device and set it up with his apple ID. He did not set up (Find My iPad/iPhone) feature.
After a month of usage, he noticed the device is heating up when connected to the charger. Suddenly, the device display is off, and can not be charged.
When connected to a USB port on a mac, or PC, it does not get detected.
I tried to hold Power button+Home Button for 10 seconds then releasing the Home button, but it did not work.
I tried to put the device in Recovery Mode, DFU mode, but nothing worked. The device does not get detected by Windows or Mac.
I toke the device to the service center I bought it from (Not an Apple Store, we don't have Apple Stores in Saudi Arabia).
At the service center, they have a policy not to service any iOS device if it is locked using Find My iPhone feature from iCloud.
I told them that the feature was never turned on. They checked http://ift.tt/1v92Osj and entered the serial number, and found out that the device [Activation Lock : ON ]. So they asked me to login to icloud using the apple ID that was used to activate the lock and remove the device from [My Devices] in iCloud.
I logged in to icloud.com using my nephew's apple ID, but could not see the iPad in the list of devices.
I thought maybe the activation lock was done using another apple ID, so I tried mine, my brother's, all of the apple IDs I tried, none of them had this iPad listed among the devices in iCloud.
Now, I can not get service for the device because they think I stole the iPad. Although I have an invoice that proves the purchase.
I know that revealing the apple ID might be considered a breach of security, but if I could just get the first and last letter of the email of Apple ID used to lock the device, then we can reduce our efforts in this hassle.
My question is: how do I know the apple ID that is used to lock the iPad knowing only the serial number of the device?

How to get url of selected image in google images?
I write Automator workflow which will attach google image miniature, able to be selected on context menu or hotkey enabled.
Now I am trying to figure out which type of object sees Automator when I right-click on image in safari. I tried web-content, image, documents, everything else, but nothing works.
Also I tried actions like Get opened safari document + load images from web-content, but it is not my case.
Is it possible at all, to add context menu option to google image?

I have setup a new gmail account and am using gmail as my iCloud name on my iPad. my iPhone still uses my hotmail. On iPhone, how can I limit which mail subfolders appear as lock screen notifications?
Context: My email includes an Exchange account with many subfolders. I've set up my account to push select subfolders to my phone (as opposed to fetching).
Problem: For email notifications on the lock screen, I'd like to explicitly limit which pushed mail subfolders display content. From the Settings -> Notifications -> Mail -> Exchange Account screen, I see the Show on Lock Screen toggle but no way to control which subfolders apply. The UI for Settings -> Mail -> Fetch New Data -> Exchange Account lets me select the subfolders, but doesn't impact lock screen notifications.
Question: Is there a way to control which subfolders' mails appear as lock screen notifications?

Am having finder freezing problems on Mac Pro 1,1 running 10.6.8. I want to run Apple Hardware Test software but I don't have the disk. I downloaded the program from Github and copied it to DVD, but when I try to run the program from the DVD while starting up, it does not load. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
MacBook Pro Yosemite Install Issue with Disk Repair Utility
I'm new to working on Macs and I've had some trouble.
My MacBook Pro was running slow, the fan was always on full blast, it stopped recognizing the battery, and the LED wasn't lighting up when I connected the charger.
So I tried upgrading from OSX 10.7 to 10.10, and the disk repair utility failed on verify disk, and repair disk, it returns exit code 8, and it won't let me return to the earlier version 10.7, just states that not enough information could be gathered from the selected drive.
Any advice on what might be going wrong and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
How to hide columns
The old version of numbers had a "hide column or row" feature. I could right click a column and the "hide" option appeared on the same window as "add/delete" and "merge." However with the 3.2 update I no longer see that option. Is it somewhere else?

How can I copy all of my IPhone Notes that are in ICloud into a Pages doc. I have been googling this for a couple of days but haven't found any answer. I don't want to use iTunes & a computer. There should be a simple way to move all my notes into one Pages doc.
How do I get a backslash when in Japanese input mode in Yosemite?
I've run in Japanese input mode for 6 years now. I generally had no issues. Now with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) I can no longer type a backslash.This means in order to use the Terminal I have to completely get out of Japanese input and switch it US input where as before Yosemite if I was in Romanji mode things just worked.
How can I either (a) get it to work like it did before or (b) how do I type a backslash while in Japanese Input mode?
Note: Backslash is used in the Terminal and when programming very often. I can't imagine there isn't some way to fix this otherwise Japanese programmers would be up in arms.
Use Launchpad while downloading from AppStore
I am just getting set up with my first mac. The current annoyance is that I am downloading xcode from AppStore (2.5 GB!!), and every app in the Launchpad is hidden - there is just the downloading progress of xcode.
Do I really have to wait an hour while the download finishes, until I can launch anything not already in the dock?? I cant believe that!

Old scanner compatibility with Yosemite?
I have an old scanner a UMAX Astra 6400 which I can't get my newly upgraded Yosemite system to register. I'm using the FireWire 400 interface and the scanner is powering on correctly.
I think it might be TWAIN compliant and I'm aware support was dropped for TWAIN back on 10.5.
I have also tried installing this TWAIN Bridge package to see if it would work, but still no luck.
Any ideas on how I can get this scanner working with my Yosemite system?
How can I add ".mp4" to the end of multiple files in a folder?
I just received a bunch of videos (for editing) and something weird happened. I was told the files are .mp4, but when I received them they did not have a filetype assigned to them.
I can add ".mp4" to the file name, which fixes the issue and allows my applications to recognize the files. Problem is, there are a lot of files.
Is there any way to easily add a ".mp4" to the end of all of the files at once? I'm willing to download an app for this if needed (Mac OS X 10.8.5)

Manually clear dns cache on mavericks
My DNS cache is broken for a few websites (most notably codeship.com) so I need to clear it.
As instructed on numerous websites I've run
dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
in various permutations, including rebooting, but it has no effect.
When running dig I get no ANSWER SECTION, but I don't know how to interpret the rest of the info.

I have upgraded svn to version 1.8.10 on osx 10.9
One of the required steps was adding the address of the current svn to the PATH.
export PATH=/opt/subversion/bin:$PATH
Doing it in he current terminal, it allowed me to see the svn --version as 1.8.10, but upon closing the terminal, the version reverted to 1.7
I read that I can add this line to ~/.profile or ~/.bash_profile
These files do not exist on my mac
I created the .profile and added the line above. From terminal, now I can get the correct version. But I am required to read this version from a different program (my Qt project calls a command
system(svnversion -n)
Even though in terminal I can get the correct svn version, the command above still gives an error "This client is too old to work with the working copy..."
The directions i find online, like this, say I also have to modify the .bash_profile (which does not exist on my machine) or edit/add something inside the /etc/paths.d directory - mine is empty !
Please help - how do I add this path to the system PATH variable ? Considering that all the default places to add it are missing ? And make it work from other programs not just Terminal ?
Mac needs to repair library after changing location of home directory
I recently reinstalled Yosemite to fix the notorious WiFi bug, and i have two hard drives, one SSD which i reserve for apps and boot, and the other HDD for data (including user data).
I started up my mac made a user account on the SSD (aside from my original one, this is a safety precaution in case the HDD goes down and i need to log in to an account on the SSD), then i copied my user folder to the HDD and went to the advanced settings for that account and pointed it to the new location on the HDD.
When i logged into my account that now has a home folder on the HDD a screen pops up saying OS X needs to repair your Library to run applications. Type your password to allow this
I type my password but it just pops up again in an infinite loop.
One strange thing to note is four ? symbols on the dock for keynote, pages, and other apps that i haven't had installed (And haven't even purchased).
Why would simply copying the fresh user folder from my SSD to my HDD (both were formatted during install) cause this error?
When i force restart and log into the admin account on the SSD i can point my user folder back to its original folder on my SSD (since i did not delete it) and then log into it and everything is normal (and there are no ? symbols for apps i don't own on my dock either.
Outlook crashes when using key commands, on Yosemite
Outlook (Office for Mac 2011) crashes every time I use the key command for "Read" on emails. I just updated the OS to Yosemite 10.10.1
Running OS X Yosemite, but About This Mac shows Version 10.90
In About this Mac it shows that the OS is Yosemite but the version number is 10.90. Is this normal? I thought Yosemite is 10.10, and Mavericks was 10.9.
Steam "not responding" on iMac 5k
I've just installed the Steam installer on my new iMac 5k, and downloaded the latest version of Steam onto it. When loading Steam, the login window loads, but all of a sudden the application freezes and needs to be "Force Quit". Any thoughts what a solution to this might be?
Will a Microsoft Office Add-In developed in Visual Studio work for both a Windows and Mac ( osx ) versions of Ms Office?
I want to develop a Microsoft Office Word Add-In for Mac Users. I would like to know if we create it using Visual Studios in windows will it be compatible with the Mac version of office or is there a whole another way to develop for Mac?

Yosemite won't uncompress .zip files when I double-click on them
I recently upgraded to Yosemite (10.10.1). Today I tried to unzip a .zip file for the first time since upgrading.
I already had 4 or so unzipping apps that worked just fine on my previous OS X, so I just double-clicked on the .zip, and Yosemite tried to open the .zip with the default unzip app.
Unfortunately, I then discovered that the default unzip app and all of my other ones were not compatible with 10.10.
I checked online and found that according to Apple, in 10.10, to unzip a .zip, you just double-click on the file and Yosemite would unzip it for you.
However, whenever I double-clicked on the .zip, Yosemite would only try to open it with the incompatible default unzip app.
So I deleted all my unzip apps and rebooted.
When I then checked my .zip files, I noticed they all were defaulting to open with TextEdit. When I double-clicked one .zip file, I got this message:

So the question is does anyone know how to get Yosemite to open a .zip given this situation?

I read about Medical ID in the Health app on my iPhone 5S, and have created one.
The app talks about "tapping Emergency" when locked to access.
Where is this "Emergency"?

Uninterruptible Power Supply not shutting down Mac Mini running Yosemite
We just received a brand new Mac Mini, which came with Yosemite pre-installed. Our UPS is set to shut down the computer after running on battery backup for 1 minute. I have tested this with an iMac running Mavericks (10.9.5) and the UPS behaves as expected, but on the Mac Mini running Yosemite the computer does not shut down and just continues to run off the battery.
Updated to add: I tested with the CyberPower 825VA and the Mac Mini running OS 10.10.0. Today I installed OS 10.10.1 update and tested again with the same results. I also tested with a Furman F1500-UPS in place of the CyberPower unit and there has been no change in the behavior.
Updated 11/28/2014--I have verified in Terminal that "haltafter" is on and set to 1. I also tried triggering a shutdown by "haltlevel" 100 (shutdown when battery dips below 100%) and the machine is still not shutting down. I tried booting from an external drive that has OS 10.8.5 on it, but the Mini would not let me do this.
Updated 12/01/2014--I booted the aforementioned iMac from an external Yosemite boot drive and it displays the same behavior as the Mac Mini. No progress on the issue thus far.
How to change selection color in appearance?
I usually use the "graphit" appearance in Yosemite. With "blue" I don't like the selection color. However I miss the red-yellow-green colors on the left from the "blue" appearance.
Is there some (cli) tool where you can customize the appearance and mix both themes up as you desire?

Fullscreen a running application from the terminal
I'm trying to pull a prank on a friend. I have a shell script that continuously cats a C source code file so make it look like the terminal is "hacking" something. The next thing I would like to do is have the script make the terminal full screen.
Is there anyway in the default terminal app to make a window full screen based off of a PID or some other identifier?
Schedule a Mac to sleep, just one time
Is it possible to schedule a Mac to sleep just one time? I know I can set a schedule for it, but I want to have control over it.
So occasionally I'll go to bed but leave a file transferring, and I want the Mac to sleep about an hour from now. So how would I go about doing that, without setting a long-term schedule?
Does anyone know if it's possible to get the new dictation languages from Yosemite into Mavericks?

How to restore jailbroken iphone stuck in recovery mode without tunes?
I have a jailbroken iphone 4 running on ios 7.1.1. I checked cydia and updated a few tweaks and since that update, my tweak called "f.lux" wasn't working so i deleted it. After deleting it, i would swipe to unlock my home screen but my phone would just shut off and restart. Restoring it in itunes didn't work and errors would always pop up. I tried using tinyumbrella and it didn't work. I also tried downloading an ipsw file but that doesn't seem to work either. Do i just need to buy a new phone or is there a way of fixing it? PLEASE HELP!!!
Can't navigate Time Machine interface (going backwards/forwards in time) since upgrading to Mac OS X Yosemite
Since upgrading to Mac OS X Yosemite, when I open Time Machine on a folder, I can't navigate backwards in time anymore, on any folder. The arrows are grayed out. Usually, this is because Time Machine needs a bit of time to load older backups, but I have given it a few minutes to load and it still does not work.
Strangely enough, the only time that there is no problem is when I restart my Mac. Once I restart, then I open a folder and open Time Machine, then I can navigate backwards in time, almost immediately, too. But after that, no folder that I open in Time Machine in the future will allow me to move back in time, until I restart once again, then I am able to only navigate a single folder.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?

So some time ago i used boot camp to install Windows 8 pro. Now i want to switch back to my mac/osx but there is no osx partition

Multiple errors when attempting to burn DVDs
As well as backing up work to an archive, we back up to dvds. This month, though, for some reason, my mac is not playing ball. I tried twice with the same folder and got two different error messages:
0x8002006E 0x80020063
I then tried burning a file to a CD, that worked. Then tried burning a jpeg to a dvd, that worked. I also repaired a few permissions. Went back to trying my archive folder - a different one though this time. And got a third error message: 0x80020022
I know it's not the superdrive as my colleague backed his up with no problems. We run the same OS with the same software but mine is playing up.
I'm running 10.9.5 OSX if that helps any.

How to undelete mail message in iOS8
I can move a message from Trash to inbox, but is there a better way to undelete a message?
I find that when I go to the trash folder, it's really easy to mess up and delete rather than move.
I've also tried using the Shake gesture. I get mixed results. Sometimes that works, often not.
got a macbook pro 2010 6,2... can i use ram from 6,1 macbook?
I've got to send my 2010 macbook pro 6,2 in for repairs. The MLB tested bad in the apple store. They'll replace that and anything else that's wrong for a flat $310, which seems like a fair price. The catch for me is that I upgraded to 8gb non-apple ram, and they're telling me that if I send it in, I may or MAY NOT get my ram back- they might very well put in original 4gb of apple ram, and not give me my 8gb sticks back. Ludicrous if you ask me...
A friend has two sticks of 1 gb apple ram for a 6,1 macbook... will this at least work with my computer so that I can send it in to be repaired?

My RMBP becomes very slow after I upgrade yosemite
I bore this problem for a long time. I even formatted my disk and have a clean installation. However, this problem does exist.
After I boot my RMBP, everything is fine. I can drag every thing, every window smoothly. When I use this computer for hours, however, every thing becomes slow. Sometimes, there is a long response after I hitting a key.
I always use RMBP with an external monitor -- a dell display. And it seems that after awaking from a long time sleep, situation gets worse.
Is there anyone has the familiar problem? How can I fix it?
I now waiting for 10.10.2, I hope this patch could solve my problem.
By the way: I tried reinstall Mavericks and the problem gone away. However, I prefer the Yosemite theme very much, so, I don't want to roll back. $_$
Iphone5 clearing problem
I've been give my son's old iphone5, but I can't seem to clear it of his old stuff and get it to go back to factory settings in order for me to set it up so I can use it, how do I do that!
Static FFMPEG binary (installing and uninstalling)
Quick question hopefully for majority of you! I've downloaded ffmpeg static binary from http://ift.tt/1y3Gssr
My question was - if I wanted to 'uninstall' it from my computer is deleting the static binary enough ? My understanding is that static binary contains all of the required libraries/code within itself and therefore it does not need to 'install' itself per se...Am I correct in saying that ?
So I never compiled it, never used home brew, just downloaded the file, extracted it to downloads folder and used it to convert videos.

I have an IP Phone that I wan to connect to the ethernet port on my iMac. I have installed the FortiClient (running SSL mode) to connect to my office. I connect the iMac to my router via Wireless. I want the VPN to be shared to the ethernet port.
Is this possible? So far the IP phone does not register to the Asterisk server when trying this. How can this be done?
No audio on Mac Pro after Yosemite upgrade
I have looked at other people's problems regarding this issue but the way they solved it cannot fix my problem as I don't have any options to change anything. see images. 
How to give different icons and titles to simultaneously running instances of Firefox
I often run two different instances of Firefox. I do this essentially1 by running the following in Terminal (which I always have running):
/Applications/http://ift.tt/1f3ARxe -P -no-remote &>/dev/null &
...and picking one of several profiles I have previously set up. This works great.
The only problem is that the various instances of Firefox show up as identical-looking icons in the App Switcher (aka ⌘+tab), Dock, Activity Monitor, Force Quit (aka ⌘+⌥+esc), etc.
Also, the title that shows up next to the icon when it has the focus is the same ("Firefox") for every instance.
I'd like to assign different icons or titles (preferably both) to each instance. How can I do this?
1Actually, I don't type all that every time; I've assigned the command to a short shell alias.

Unable to disable find my iPhone
I have disable find my iPhone from icloud on to the internet and from my phone as well, but it still showing on from apple website, tried turn on and off again tried so many things but its is still sowing that its on, and I am unable to reset the phone on to factory settings, when I try to reset the phone after apple bar it goes to the spining wheel and it spines for ever but does not reset the phone on to factory settings
I copied MP3 file to Iphone but Music app does not see it
I am not everyday user of iphone. So I connected iphone 4 with ios 7 to my Ubuntu 14.04 machine, Nautilus opened and I copied mp3 files so Downloads folder.
Then I disconnected the phone and opened Music app, but it was empty.
Where should I copy mp3 files so Music can see them?
Can Music app see WAV files as well?

Enforce dedicated graphics on MBP 2010
My MBP (mid 2010) is suffering from the Intermittent black screen or loss of video issue. More specifically, it may happen that when switching from dedicated to integrated graphics, the screen goes black. Only a reboot helps in this case.
So I tried to disable the automatic graphics switching (via "System Preferences" -> "Energy Saver"). Nevertheless, graphics switching still occurs; I can't say when or what's causing that, though. It always appears to be the case after waking up from sleep / suspend-to-ram. As per gfxCardStatus, "Dynamic Switching" is enabled then, which is exactly what I seeked to prevent via the systems preferences.
Is there a way to permanently disable the dynamic graphics switching and only work with the discrete graphics? I wouldn't mind the shortened battery lifetime if that helped to prevent the black screen issue to occur.
SSL VPN Client for iOS
n my workplace we have a FortiNet VPN. On my desktop, I use FortiClient to access it. The iOS FortiClient app keeps crashing on iOS 8, and from a quick search in the App Store I see only branded apps (for Junos, Checkpoint, etc..).
Is there any way I can connect to my work's SSL VPN using my iOS device?

Yosemite hot key for answer
As you know in new oS X yosemite we have built in notification system which indicate us with new skype message for example, and let us to reply without showing up whole app. It's very good idea. But I need to have hotkey to avoid clicking reply by mouse in that small notification popup. It will help to make reply faster and to do not look for trackpad or mouse.
Do we have such ability ?

What happened to File-Management-Systems like MacJournal, Yojimbo, Together?
I am a long time very satisfied user of Journler. Now, after a system upgrade, this program no longer works - and it is indeed no longer being developed for some years. So: On for a search for a replacement.
The usual suspects, as already Anno 2009 or so, are MacJournal, Yojimbo, Together. EagleFiler has since arrived, and DEVONthink with a large range of products too.
But somehow I have the impression that this kind of software a) has not really been further developed, and b) is not being used as such anymore, or at least discussed. Most articles I've found are a few years old. And when I look at the Google Trends me - here, for example, of MacJournal, the trend is clear (down, down).
Is that because now Finder with Spotlight, tagging, etc. can replace pretty well these "collections"?
I would be interested to hear what you think about it or what your experiences are.

Unable to connect to any VPN - how do I hard reset all related settings?
Title says it all - I'm unable to connect to any VPN server. It doesn't matter if I'm using WiFi or Ethernet and I've tried multiple routers in different locations as well.
Both L2TP and PP2P connections won't connect. I've uploaded some sample connection logs for the PPP connection as well as the L2TP connection.

Since I can't seem to be able to connect to any network, I'm strongly assuming there must be something wrong with my Mac's network settings and not the actual VPN settings themselves. Maybe some messed up IP configuration? So - is there a way for me to completely reset all network settings (maybe pinpointed to VPN, if that's possible)?
OSX 10.10.1 with FileVault2 on doesn't boot with launchd CODE SIGNING error
First of all, I want to clarify my intentions: I'm not asking about how to make this mac work again, I do know about Recovery HD and other methods of recovering. I want to know what does the error mean and if there a way of fixing it manually for educational purposes.
Mac OS Yosemite (10.10.1) with FileVault2 does not boot with the following error:
CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page(0x7ffff719b1000): p=1[launchd] final status 0x20000000, allowing (remove VALID) page
I've tried to google it, but failed. What does the error mean?
I've checked everything about this /sbin/launchd: size, crc, modification date are the same with the bootable 10.10.1 FV2 system, codesign -vvvv says everything is ok.
Please advice.
cooling case for overheating iphone? looking for info about this
if anyone knows more info about this i would love to know. so far i couldn't find anything much online. suppose to be a new case for phones ? called "optimal" ? saw that on Facebook.
Why is my iPhone 5S overheating so much?
Activities such as:
- Phone Calls that last around 10 minutes
- 3G Browsing for 5 - 7 minutes
- Watching videos for 5 minutes
- Using apps such as facebook / instagram etc for 5 - 7 minutes, lead to my iPhone 5S severely overheating.
It heats so much at times that it can't be held any more and you have to set it down for it to cool down.
At times, it randomly restarts when plugged in. When it starts to heat the battery drops sharply and sometimes the phone simply dies
I'm fairly certain that the hardware in my phone is being affected with this overheating
My first year phone warranty ends in 10 days and I'm contemplating whether I should give it to Apple India Service and if they will replace my phone.
Any Solutions? Suggestions? Experiences with Indian Apple Service Centres?

The documentation I have so far (from an up-to-date Mavericks machine):

I want to develop a Microsoft Office Word Add-In for Mac Users. I would like to know if we create it using Visual Studios in windows will it be compatible with the Mac version of office or is there a whole another way to develop for Mac?
Please provide links so that I could follow some guidelines. The http://ift.tt/rnTyPu site doesn't exactly speak of the platform compatibility of the Add-In.

How to set a custom icon inside a signed Apple Script application?
I'm using Apple Script to distribute a signed applet, and would like to use a custom icon. However, as soon as I export it from Script Editor, the bundle loses the custom applet.icns file I put in it. It's reverted to the standard script icon (see screenshot).
How do I export my script as an app without losing my custom icon?
If not possible: are there other ways to sign an Apple Script application bundle on OS X 10.10? This would allow me to do a manual icon replacement and sign the bundle afterwards.
Important twist: Replacing the applet.icns file afterwards is not an option, as the bundle won't pass signature validation anymore. In short, users get a damaged app error when launching the app, unless they have lowered their OS X security.
