As stated in the title some keys don't work when trying to input my password into the Yosemite login screen. The weird thing is that if my mouse isn't plugged in (Razer Naga) when I turn on my Macbook Pro the issue doesn't occur and if I restart my Macbook Pro, even with the mouse plugged in, then everything works as expected.
I never had this problem in any previous versions of OS X.
Am I allowed to use in my iOS app a prepay system, where user can upload bitcoin to use in-app premium services? I want to avoid pay 30% for Apple.
I found an iOS 8 bug and that bug doesn't allow me to test mediation between ads. I know it's not an issue with my code because everything works fine with iOS 7 simulators and devices and iOS 8 devices work. But on iOS 8 simulator it doesn't work. Problem is, I don't have an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ device and don't know anyone who does. The test of device takes about 10 minutes and has no negative affects on device. Would I be allowed to hook up my Apple MacBook to the iPhone 6 in the Apple Store to test my app?
I have a shell script that is supposed to run via cronjob on Yosemite, also when no user is logged in. I discovered the cron has to be edited with sudo crontab -e to do that.
The script connects to a webserver via SSH, which has been set with ssh-copy-id. But the ssh connection only seems to work if I run the script manually.
My first guess would be that the ssh connection from the sudo cron can't access the local key for the user (as this happened to me on another system in combination with ForwardAgent: Yes. But I am not sure and have no idea how to debug this.

As of a few days ago, some Safari webpages (the first and most frequently-occurring of which was Facebook's News Feed) would start loading but then freeze up. I went into Activity Monitor, and while it did say that Safari Web Content wasn't responding, it also said that Flash Player (Safari web plugin) wasn't responding. Force Quitting the Safari Web Content didn't do anything; the page just reloaded and froze up again, but when I forced Flash Player to quit, the misbehaving webpage refreshed and worked perfectly. After several more instances of the problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player, and the problem happened again.
I've currently got Flash Player uninstalled for stability's sake, but I can't live a Flashless life forever. How can I fix the problem?
UPDATE: It just happened again after I attempted a reinstall. This time, I checked my Flash version.

I have iTunes 12 and it will not play albums in order - just one song at a time. I have tried all kinds of things to fix this.
Something I noticed is that none of the songs are checked any more and I don't know what that means.

Recently, I've noticed that some system fonts randomly become blurry, as though there's a problem with the anti-aliasing. This affects:

They are not blurry when I restart. At some point, usually with in a few hours, and not after any specific, repeatable event - they become blurry. (I've never noticed exactly when it happens. All of a sudden, when I stop focusing on my work, I notice that they're blurry.
If I restart the Mac, they become sharp again, but only temporarily.
I've never played around with any settings that might have caused this change (e.g, I haven't changed LCD font smoothing or anything). And I haven't replaced the graphics card. In short - I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of.

I recently upgraded my iPhone from the 4S to the 6 version, and my "Tapped Out" game effectively reset itself back to zero, losing all the stuff I built up in 2 yrs. of game play.
I still have it on my 4S, but deleted the new and NOT improved game from my v. 6.
Question: How do I retrieve my Tapped Out/The Simpsons game for my iPhone 6? Is there some way to transfer the original game from my old iPhone to my new one?
I bought a refurbished 13" Macbook Pro (late 2013 model retina) from the Apple store website in Sept 2014. It worked great till last month, when I had some water leak out in backpack and get through the ports in the Macbook.
I believe it has affected the logic board which connects the power port to the battery. When the system is plugged into the power adaptor, it works normal. But, as soon as the power adaptor is unplugged, the laptop shuts down as battery charge can't get going. The diagnostics are showing that the battery should be replaced.
I took the laptop to the Genius Bar and was told that there is a flat fee for liquid damage repair - $795. I bought this refurbished laptop for $1300 and paying $795 seems quite expensive. I can continue to use it with the power plugged in, but it reduces its usability considerably. Also, once in a while the power cable gets disconnected shutting down the system unexpectedly.
I called my renters insurance as well, but they did not cover the claim. I may have to just bite the bullet and get it repaired, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on if there are any other options that I have to fix this?
Here's my issue:
I connect my mac to a local server at work, where I keep my work files. In the finder, I create folder shortcuts under "Favorites". However, as soon as I disconnect from the local server, I lose the shortcuts. They are removed automatically. Which means, if the system can't find the server, then it removes the shortcuts to the server. Other operating systems don't remove the shortcut, they are still there but just not accessible.
Is there a way to tell the mac to keep the shortcuts?
I don't want to waste tens of gigabytes of space on my laptop to store apps that I can just as easily download from the App Store.
Assuming I would have to recover an iPhone backup from iTunes to a brand new replacement iPhone, what will I lose if I don't agree to transfer purchases when making the backup?
I noticed Mavericks prefers the DNS server to /etc/hosts (scutil --dns). There used to be a good 'ol "order hosts,bind". Is there anything equivalent for Mavericks so my hosts file is consulted before reaching out to the DNS server? Thanks.
I have 3 groups on a slide that I want to highlight 1 at a time. Is there a good way to do this? My slide has a gradient background so putting a rectangle over the objects and faking it mucking with their transparency doesn't seem like a good approach.
Is there a way to make objects start out opacified? If so, I can use the opacity action on the objects, but when I tried to use an opacity action, on transition, with duration 0, it didn't work. Having a short (0.1s) duration causes kind of a jarring flicker.
I also thought about using multiple slides with magic-move handling the opacity changes, but I didn't see a way to change the opacity of a group.
I'm running Keynote 6.5.2 on Yosemite (the most recent releases of both I believe).
I am having a hard time finding an adapter from Thunderbolt to two separate (not mirroring) VGA outputs. You would imagine that if it is designed to do that Mac would make an Adapter for that very application. Any one have any suggestions?

My ultimate problem is that I am using two thunderbolts to power two identical projectors with VGA and each projector is stuck in different resolutions. The Projector company suggested I try using a thunderbolt to Dual VGA adapter.

A strange thing happen to my chrome web browser, and I don't know why, I hope you can help me.
In my chrome tabs the bootswatch symbol appears in the tab icon even when I'm not in the bootswatch website!!
I have already uninstalled the chrome browser using the AppCleaner.app, and I also checked if I had some weird extension installed.
I really don't know why this happens, it is strange. I am programming in ruby on rails and I have browsed and tried bootswatch, but I don't know why this has affected my browser!

I just finished building my PC. It has no optical drive but I made a bootable usb with my iMac. When I plugged it in my PC motherboard recognized it, I chose to boot from the USB but it takes to me a blank screen.
To troubleshoot, I tried it on my Asus laptop running Debian. I selected the usb to boot and it just boots up Debian. So something is not working with the USB. Any suggestions? Is it possible that making a bootable USB with boot camp won't work on PC?
I have a older 27" iMac ( 2011 ) and the hard drive is on its way out in a serious manner, ( smart status failing, io error every few seconds in much kernel log , speed of io is the worst I have ever seen) out of AppleCare, cannot get it to a apple store for at least a week due to them being busy and I require the machine for tomorrow . I am wondering if anyone can fill me in on a few questions. I will be starting this task in about 8 hours

With a trackpad, one can do a pinch and see all open tabs. It's a very nice interface and really well done. The thing is, with this feature, there is really no need for the tab bar, and things would look a lot cleaner without it. Yet Apple doesn't seem to give us the ability to hide it when more than one tab is open.
Does anyone know any hacks to hide it?

I figured that it might be a bad PMBR. From all accounts, this is just an MBR with a non-bootable partition in it. I created an HFS disk on a USB stick, and copied the MBR (dd if=/dev/disk7 count=1 of=/dev/disk6) to the ailing disk.
I used R-Studio to scan the disk. R-Studio finds files and directories and such.
Ran TestDisk (separate command line disk utility) It's numbers agreed with GPT's.
I then used dd to make a backup of the first 34 blocks of the disk, and used gpt to destroy and recreate the partition table.

I am using Apple Numbers and find it frustrating that cell arguments containing empty text (and sometimes contain numbers from other sheets) are not converted to a number of value 0, when referenced by a function that expects a numeric value.
For example, a function in cell:
=MAX(I5,0.5×J5)
with J5 being empty, yields an error message
The operator “*” expects a number but found “.”
So I tried to encase J5 with VALUE(J5), and got another message:
VALUE requires a string specifying a number, but found “” instead.
Is there an efficient way to treat all spaces as 0 for the countless cells that may have that situation?
When Presenting a powerpoint I tried to minimize the PP and go online to demo. The site comes up on my Laptop but not on the projection. That only displays the home screen.
Running Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C109). The icons in the Dock cannot be dragged. When I click on an icon, it darkens, but then moving the mouse simply removes the focus on the icon. I cannot move the icons around, or off of the icon bar.

most of my songs in iphone are ripped from CDs. In this case, song's information like artist name are typed by myself, saved and synced well to my iphone through itunes but some cases, the information automatically changed the letters then saved. I'm perfectly sure it's the songs from artists that i've purchased from itunes before
for example, if i ripped songs then put the artist name with all capitalized like "KING CRIMSON", and sync to my iphone, it shows me the exact same artist name.
But if the songs were from artist that i purchased before from itunes, then the artist name capitalized is changed as uppercase remained only on first letter automatically during sync process (ex, BEATLES --> Beatles)

I am connected to an old NETGEAR smart-switch which only supports IGMPv2. It doesnt route multicast traffic to my mac because it joins the group using IGMPv3.
I tried this:
sysctl net.inet.igmp.default_version=2
but it doesn't work - OSX still sends out IGMPv3 packets (confirmed with wireshark).
Is there a way of forcing IGMPv2?

I was fooling around with iPhone 6 plus and found that when you place finger twice on finger scanner or rotate your finger on the scanner the currently running app or the menu views move down to half for the screen.

I'm not worried of this behaviour. I'm just curious why such thing is happening.
That dark green color is displayed when an app is running and you do the finger thing.
Apple newbie here. I tried to update OSX from Mavericks to Yosemite. The downloading failed. It showed me a message saying "an error occurred". So what I did is to search on google what were the recommendation. I followed a tutorial to reset the download again here: http://ift.tt/17tYkGN
After doing that the message was gone although the button now turns to just "Download".
It prompt me to restart my computer to install. But I was worried because I know that the download failed. Any suggestion on what to do? Is there any way to re-download the update just to make sure I have all the files.

My disk utility shows that the path is verified when I repair and verify the disk. It shows up fine in disk utility. But even after that, it doesn't show up on my hard drive, either on the left nav or in the main screen. I've indicated that I want hard drives to show up in Finder Preferences, to no avail.

I am trying to use XCode as my training environment for simple C++ programs. If I create a new project, I can successfully complete everything (compile, run) but If I add one more file, it can't compile as a separate one. That means that I need to have a main2() and a main3() etc. because having 2 files with two main() in the same folder lead to an error.
In simple words, I want to write code for 30 C++ examples, each one in its own .cpp file and compile every one of them separately and not as a whole project (all files together that If there are two functions of the same name, it will crash).

I am using tikona broadband internet and they usually have a 5 IP address restriction. I managed to by pass that by using a linksys router WRT120N . I setup the router to distribute IP addresses as 192.168.1.2-20.
However, when i am connecting my new time capsule, it seems to distribute IPs from DHCP as 10.x.x.2 onwards only.
How do i set up the time capsule so that it takes 10.x.x.x a its IP from DHCP and distributes over the network IPs as 192.168.1.X onwards?
That is also needed so that i will not have to login on each individual device with the ISP username and password on their website.
In order to help my sleep, I use Nocturne to tint my screen dark red at night. This is similar to what the ever-popular Flux does, but more extreme. However, it creates problems when a document has red text or images on a white background. They are now red text or images on a red background -- that is, they're invisible.
Is there any way to do more sophisticated color mapping? I'm imagining a "filter" that changes white to red, the way Nocturne does, but also tints pixels that were already supposed to be red towards black. That way they will remain visible.
I'm not looking for professional-quality color calibration. It's fine if things look ugly and documents don't appear the way the designers intended. I just want a way to read, browse the web, and watch lectures while minimizing blue light exposure.
It sounds like one possible solution would be a custom ICC profile, as described in this question. I don't know how to create one, though. Can anyone point me to an existing one with these properties, or is there a relatively simple graphical tool that can help with this?
Here are a few options that don't do what I'm looking for:
f.lux, Nocturne, Black Light, Screen Shades: I'm not sure if they could be altered to do what I want, but as-is they don't offer enough options. Nocturne lets you change white and black to any arbitrary color, but I also need to remap reds too.
The "invert colors" option: Not useful since my goal is to tint everything red (i.e., reduce exposure to blue light).
UI-customizers like Flavors: I don't just want to change the colors of system elements, but of everything that my computer displays (including documents, videos, etc).
When / why (which use cases) does the fan in Apple's Thunderbolt Display go on / get noticeable? We're talking well behaving displays here, not misbehaving ones.
I'm "fighting" to have a low noise notebook, so I don't want to be disturbed by the display fan.
I'm using the philips SHB7000 bluetooth headphones with my MacBook. They paired fine, but the audio quality over bluetooth was terrible. I remember having this issue on my previous macbook, and promptly found that the preferences for BluetoothAudioAgent need to be adjusted:

This seems to have addressed the tinny output quality. Problem now is, that input quality is still tinny. Does anybody know what I can try or do to address this?
Summary: bluetooth headphone input quality is very low with Macbook.
in a month i'm going to graduate at university and i have to do a presentation for the degree thesis. I'd like to know if it's possible to embed my C++ code (an executable) in a keynote.

I have created an OSx application and Signed it with my Developer ID. I archived the application and then just exported it as Application and here it is working fine. But, when I exported it as Package installer it had an issue. After installing my app via installer, it came in launchPad but on trying to open it It failed, nothing happen neither any error nor any effect of launch happened.
I checked my Gatekeeper state it is also completely disabled, so It should not stop my app to be executed.
I also have checked this thing with both Mavericks as well as Yosemite.
If anyone have some idea on such case then please respond as I badly need solution.

How can I distribute an Enterprise Mac app which uses MapKit?
Background: We have built an iOS app and server which has a Mac app to act as the admin dashboard. Obviously the client doesn't want the OSX app in the app store. It wouldn't be relavant to anyone except their admins and might even attract hostile users. I've managed to make developer signed releases for their team which work in all respects except they won't display maps.
I was hoping for something like the iOS enterprise store for Mac apps but I can't find it and it seems that MapKit is limited to AppStore releases.
Am I missing something?

i'm using iphone 4. recently i have my iphone setting reset, after that the cellular data doesn't work and cannot connect to the internet at all although it shown 3G.before i reset the setting, it work well. i have tried to reset the network setting but it also doesn't work. internet connected well using wifi. any idea on how to fix this?
I recently had to restore my ~/Library/Mail folder from a Time Machine backup, and upon opening Mail it imported the mailboxes seemingly successfully, however my Smart Mailboxes no longer function, despite appearing to be correct.
My smart mailboxes aren't anything fancy, they basically just group similar items; for example, if accounts A and B both have an IMAP folder named "Newsletters" then the corresponding smart mailbox simply combines messages that reside in either folder; it's a simple match any rule for each mailbox.
However, even though these smart mailboxes appear to be valid (pointing to the correct mailboxes), nothing is appearing within them at all. I've already tried rebuilding every mailbox, as well as closing Mail, clearing its entry under ~/Library/Containers (to force it to rebuild its cache) and relaunching. I've also tried creating new smart mailboxes, but these don't work either, so there must be an index somewhere that's not functioning correctly, but I've already tried deleting the envelope index files under ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData.
Is there anything else I can do to solve this problem?
