I just recently bought an iphone this year, and need to know if it has any led flash light for letting my know that it's charging?
I have iPhone 5c, and it's got this setting for light for call and message alerts. I'm trying to look for a similar setting for when it's in charging mode.
Please could someone provide any help regarding this?
I've seen lot of guides how to install Yosemite etc which are "free to download" that start with "download OSX from Apple Store".
That is nice, but works only if you already have a working Mac that supports that target OS you want to get, otherwise you can't download them. In case you have a formatted Mac, some older model (I have mac mini from 2008), where online recover doesn't work - how would you download it?
There are torrents that contain .dmg file, but I don't think that is OK to use.

Basically, I keep a lot of files on the network.
In (at least) 10.8, there was a little spinner indicator that the directory contents were still loading, that tells you that something is happening.
This has (?) apparently been removed in 10.10, so now when I browse to a directory with ~3K+ items in it, finder just sits for 30 seconds - 1 minute with absolutely no indication that anything is still happening, before suddenly displaying the contents.
How can I get some sort of activity indicator back?
Before someone asks, the exact same directory takes only ~1-3 seconds to load on windows or linux, so it's already kind of ridiculous.

I have the iPhone 5s with iOS 8.2, and the fingerprint sensor suddenly stopped working. It worked fine earlier today and before.I had the fingerprint feature on since i got the phone when it came out with no issues until now. I deleted all of the fingerprints and tried to set them up again, but now it keeps saying that my fingerprint are unreadable. But a few times it makes it through the set up, but they will not work unlocking the phone. I tried resetting it a few times with no avail. Hoping someone here could help.
I have a document in MS Word in Windows with equations in MathType. When I edit it in MS Word on the Mac, the equations get corrupted, even though we have the same version of MathType and Word on both machines.
My Mac is running Maverick (10.9.4) with MS Word for Mac 2011 14.4.8.

I just added an item to iCal on my office Mac. It showed up on my home mac iCal and on my iPodTouch ical, but it does not show on my iPad or on my iCloud calendar. How can that be?
So my Mac is really messed up and I'm trying to fix everything. I have this one problem where nothing seems to work. I don't go to forums unless I am extremely frustrated (very rare) and that is now. What has happened is that first of all, in Finder, every single file is on my disk is classified under the "Other" section, when I go to about this Mac, it shows only a fraction of my disk is actually "Other". I have tried clearing the NVRAM and PVRAM crap. I've tried rebooting, deleting the Finder preferences. Also, are their any other known symptoms that occur with this problem?

So I import all photos/videos off of my iPhone to Photos on a daily basis after upgrading from iPhoto and it works well overall, so far.
The problem is that, while Photos does give me the option to "Delete items after import", the option becomes greyed out after some imports and there are some items that get left behind on the iPhone (they are successfully imported but do not get deleted).
iPhoto would let me delete already-imported photos, but Photos does not.
I have two inconvenient workarounds to this:
Select all photos in Photos app, check "Delete items after import" and click "Import Selected" again. This may or may not create duplicates -- I'm not sure.
Manually delete each photo on my iPhone like a cave person
So my question is this-
Is there a more automatic way to do this (without duplicates), since I'm doing it on a regular basis?
P.S. I do not sync Photos using iTunes.
Under previous Mac OS's there were widgets like "Modern Moments" and "Desk Photo" to display photos on the Dashboard. I tried them under Mac OS 10.10(.1) and they do not seem to be working. I'd like to see photos of my family/partner occasionally, e.g., when I use the Dashboard. Are there widgets that still work?

My black-and-white-captured iPhone iOS 8.1.1 Camera photos uploaded (via Dropbox Camera Uploads) to my Mac OS 10.9.5 MacBook Air all appear in color in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Preview.app. All of said pictures look like B&W on my phone and via all of the above viewers reading any email attachment (of said B&W pics) sent from my phone. Only after Dropbox-Camera-Uploads-uploading them do they appear to be in color.
I didn't have this problem I've used previous iPhone + Dropbox_Camera_Upload configurations (I believe this included an iPhone 5S running iOS 7). I'm not sure what changed to "break" this -- it's rather frustrating.

For a Mac mini or such acting as a server in a server room or colo, accidentally choosing the Apple > Shut Down… menu item is a major problem. Without physical access, you cannot start the Mac up again.
Is there a way to make it more difficult to inadvertently shut down a Mac?
One workaround is to set System Preferences > Energy Saver > Schedule (button) > Start up or wake (checkbox) to boot the computer, say 2:00 AM if you often do admin work at midnight. But I'm looking ways to avoid the shut down problem in the first place.
The question sums it: How can I buy from the iOS App Store and have it download to my iOS device, perhaps telling it?
Anytime I attempt to go to the AppStore website, it keeps trying to push me towards iTunes, which I don't have installed on all my computers (e.g. my work computer). I'd like to purchase and push the app directly to one of my AppleID linked devices, it's gotta be possible in this day of cloud and mobile computing. (like Android or Windows Phone 8/10).
What am I missing here? Is there a different link? Different setting?
How I shuffle by disk in iTunes?
Would I mean is if an album has 5 disks, I like each disk to treated as a separate album only for shuffling purposes.
I think setting the sort album to disk number i.e. album name disk 1 but this had no effect.
N.b. this is not the same as shuffle by album.
Update: Changing the album title would work but this would mean in the album view I have the same album multiple times, so I would prefer not to do that.
I get a black rectangle with the "f" icon, but it won't play when I click on it.
Apple stopped updating OSX 10.6.8 so is its Flash too out of date to run?
First time i've posted on this community.
I've recently been working on a script to backup files, etc. for my own use but recently I thought it may look nicer if I was able to cleanup and have everything nice and tidy (with colours and what not). I was unable to complete this though. In a shell script I have written the following and despite what multiple combos i've tried I am unable to get this working.
Testing this on Mavericks as I can't update to Yosemite yet.

Currently I am running Yosemite, I am trying to ascertain if it's possible to add a delegate mailbox to the mail.app. As of yet I have been unable to do so. Unfortunately I cannot have this particular mailbox as another account as it doesn't have the ability to be logged into.

We have fleets of laptops that have limited space once our software is installed on it. What ever the issue that is causing the creation of theses files and --err not flushing them, we are ignoring for the moment. But I would like to automatically delete the contents /private/var/folders/. We have maybe 5-10 students log in to a laptop a day. Not sure if that will be an overkill. Any help would be appreciated.
I work in a shop which necessitates strong administrative controls. However, a few teams use apps which are only found outside of the App Store and require fairly frequent updates - those updates themselves require downloading and fully installing the new version instead of a helper tool.
Without allowing the user to be an admin themselves, is there a way to essentially "whitelist" the apps to allow their accounts to install specific apps and not need our admin user/pw?

i'm in trouble with my Linplug - Morphox plugin, i mean, yesterday i've installed the "morphox.component" into the right folder "Macintosh-Library-Audio-plug ins- component. When i open logic pro 9 (32bit) and i choose the new AU, i put the correct serial number and everything works perfectly. Today when i open logic pro 9 again, i choose the AU morphox and the problem is that any kind of wave, in the waves window, is showed, so no sound for me, but yesterday everything was ok,i saw the waves in the "OSC1" and "OSC2" windows,i've attached a pic of morphox so you can see what i mean at the left top of the pic, two windows without any wave. 
Anyone knows how it should be happened? I tried to uninstall it but if i remove the component and the i paste the component again i have the same problem, i would try to delete the validation key as well, so when i restart it i type the validation key again and maybe it works,but how can i completely delete all files of the component? I don't know, or any other ideas about fix this problem?

Hey is there a way to prevent xcode from switching to the debug navigator every time an app crashes? I'd rather stay in the file I am working at a time, the "new" view is completely useless for me
I have had a 1TB Western Digital Ultra external hard drive for nearly year. Out of nowhere it will not show in disk utility but it does show in system profiler. I have a Macbook pro mid 2012 running Yosemite 10.10.1 I have of course tried searching myself but found no clear answers. I tried verifying the main disk and found nothing wrong. Other external drives work fine with this port and cable. Could it be a hard ware failure? Thanks for the support guys I'm just trying to identify possible causes.

I'd like to be able to edit a long url in the Safari browser on my iPad 2 running iOS 8.1.1. I can select it, but I can't scroll through it to add or delete something on the end. I generally copy/paste it into Notes, do the edit, then paste it back into the browser window, but that's a number of steps and becomes tedious.
Is there a way to do that type of edit inside the browser window?
Sometimes when I take photos in my iPhone 5s they automatically show up on my iPad. But most of the time they don't.
How can I analyze and solve this?
I did an update to Yosemite yesterday, but today I turned the computer on and tried to type my password in. I couldn't because the keys I P A D K L M C don't seem to be working, I have tried three different keyboards and none work. Two of the keyboards are official Apple. I tried them in my windows laptop and all the keys are working fine. I then booted into the recovery on the MBP and I could type with all the keys. I thought it was fixed so restarted. I then had the exact same problem and am at a loss of what to do. I've tried Apple support, but they are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
I am trying to upload my entire iPhone 6 content to the icloud. When I fire up my phone there is a spinning circle to the right of the wifi symbol but in the left half of the screen. When I just turn on the screen but do not unlock it, and it is plugged in to charge, the spinning circle is now in the right half of the screen to the left of the "Battery Charge" and "Bluetooth" symbol. Is something different being indicated by the slight change in position of the spinning circle?
I have a Mac Pro 10.6.8 which will not start.
I wanted to re-install my Mac Pro (Intel dual core 2.66) which is currently running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
I inserted the retail Mac OS X 10.6 install disc, and held down the C key on my keyboard to boot the machine.
The disc can be heard spinning up, and the grey Apple logo appears. However, the Mac Pro crashes on start up from DVD, what can I do?
I tried to hook up my MIDI keyboard to GarageBand, but the latency is killing me. When I play a note, there's a noticeable delay between me playing a note and me hearing it played back. I haven't enabled any effects and I'm only running Safari in the background. I never had much issues with my MIDI keyboard on an older Windows 7 machine. When I test the keyboard in Reaper on the same Mac, I don't experience any significant delays either.
How can I fix this latency problem?
Iphone 4 - I'm trying to change the apple ID on my iphone to match my icloud (already changed apple id here) but it keeps asking me for the password linked to the old ID to turn off find my iphone, in order to delete the old apple ID account from the phone. I need to do this so I can sign in again with my new ID. This password of course won't work as the id has already been changed on icloud so the old email address/ID (now showing in the pop up box) doesn't exist! Any ideas?
I have done something stupid and need help. I have 3 external drives attached to my MAC and in attempt to make the partition names more meaningful, I renamed them using finder/get info. My user account was located on one of these drives, the other 2 are for TimeMachine. Now of course, I cannot access the user account because I forgot to change the path in System Preferences. By starting in recovery mode I can see the disks, but Disk Utility does not appear to allow me to change the name. Worse still, I cannot remember what the name of my drive that contains the user account should be. I suspect it can be sorted out from the command line, but my skills do not extend that far. Any chance someone can provide some guidance on how to rename the partition and how to ensure the user account path matches. Thanks in advance.

A number of alterations to a JPEG image can be performed losslessly (that is, without recompression and the associated quality loss) as long as the image size is a multiple of 1 MCU block (Minimum Coded Unit) (usually 16 pixels in both directions, for 4:2:0 chroma subsampling). Utilities that implement this include jpegtran, with user interface Jpegcrop, and the JPG_TRANSFORM plugin to IrfanView.
Blocks can be rotated in 90 degree increments, flipped in the horizontal, vertical and diagonal axes and moved about in the image. Not all blocks from the original image need to be used in the modified one. The top and left edge of a JPEG image must lie on an 8 × 8 pixel block boundary, but the bottom and right edge need not do so. This limits the possible lossless crop operations, and also prevents flips and rotations of an image whose bottom or right edge does not lie on a block boundary for all channels (because the edge would end up on top or left, where – as aforementioned – a block boundary is obligatory).
When using lossless cropping, if the bottom or right side of the crop region is not on a block boundary then the rest of the data from the partially used blocks will still be present in the cropped file and can be recovered. It is also possible to transform between baseline and progressive formats without any loss of quality, since the only difference is the order in which the coefficients are placed in the file.
Furthermore, several JPEG images can be losslessly joined together, as long as they were saved with the same quality and the edges coincide with block boundaries.
I'd like to perform directly on iPhone these lossless crop, rotate and join transformation operations on JPEG pictures taken with camera app.
An ideal answer would contain reference on all operations mentioned by wikipedia, but for a start even one of crop, rotate or join would be good.
I've tried several apps like Snapseed but the saved rotated image is not undergoing a lossless transform.
I would like to forward my iPhone notifications or alerts to an Android phone.

I bought a used mac mini on ebay, the guy who sent it to me completely formatted it, leaving only recovery partition.
Now when I boot the recover, I see 4 options, one of them is reinstall the OS. When I pick it I see that my computer will be verified with apple if eligible. Then a message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try restarting the application" shows there.
How can I see more verbose error? What is wrong? Is there some log or any way how to debug this? The OS I am trying to install is Yosemite, which was last OS installed on this Mac so it should work just ok.
I believe there used to be an option that would allow you to select a time zone for your calendar entry that has disappeared in one of the updates; where did it go? How can I get it back?
I have many songs in iTunes. They are organized like this: artist/album/song. I don't want that. I don't give a hoot about albums. I want my music organized like this: artist/song.
Is there ANY way to eliminate the album structure from iTunes music, and just have the artist and the song in iTunes music, and keep that structure from now on?
This is an answer and a question in one to help people who search and find nothing as I had. This will only work for people who own Cannon I believe and may only apply to the MG series. •Step 1: Open IJ Scan Utility
•Step 2: Click the settings icon then select/highlight "Document Scan".
Under "Save Settings" there's a pull down across from "Data Format" click it and select "PDF (Multiple Pages)" then select "OK" to exit back to the tool.
•Step 3: Insert your document into the scanner and click the "Document" icon, it will then warm up the scanner and proceed to scan.
•Step 4: A box will appear after the scan is complete and you simply insert a new document in the order you want them to appear in the PDF and click the "Scan" icon. Repeat step 4 until you have completed the PDF.
•Step 5: Once completed just simply select the "Exit" icon and it will only create a single larger PDF making organization much easier.
Hope this helps someone, I didn't know I could do this till I messed with the settings as I hardly use my scanner to do anything other than scan the occasional photo or mail in a rebate now and again. -Mike
I have given an old iPhone 5 to a friend as it had been dropped and screen was unreadable. I was due an upgrade so not worth me paying for a repair, however my friend wants to pay for it be repaired to use.
As it was unusable and I wanted to delete all data and info on the phone I used Erase my iPhone through find my iPhone.
On find my iPhone it now shows as Erase pending, iPhone will be erased when it connects to the Internet.
My question is if they get it repaired and they have my passcode how quickly will the data be erased and will they be able to see any photos, text messages, Apps etc. before the phone erases?
On OS X Yosemite, I'm using Messages.app to chat with my contacts.
But I can not participate or read group chats from Hangouts within Messages.app, for that I have to use the Gmail/G+ page.
So, anyone knows a client/app for OS X (or even an extension/plugin for Messages.app) which enables me to chat one-on-one and even on group chats?
I have a very frustrating issue with mail app. I am using the mail app for my gmail email address.
The issue is that, when I am writing a new message and would like to save a draft, the app creates a NEW draft for each time I press cmd+S to save the draft state. So, by the time I finish writing the email, I can see 20+ new drafts all sourced from the single message.
I experience this only with mail app. I used another apps, and all did not have this issue.
I am running osx yosemite.
