I cant change country/region on my apple account!

the Steps i follow:

Tap on the App Store icon in your Home Screen. Tap on Featured on the bottom left corner of screen. Scroll all the way to the bottom where your Apple ID info is. ... Tap View Apple ID, you may have to enter your password. Once the page loads Change your country/Region

I do not seem to have tha option to change country/region, it is there it is shown but i can't select and change it. It happens both on my iphone and on my pc application of itunes.

Is there any other way i can change it?

iCloud photo sharing limit reached -- new photo app

I'm running the 10.3 beta on my iMac, using the new photos app. I imported about 1,300 pics I took over the weekend (live performance) and want to share them online with some people.

First thing I did was create three new albums, one for each of the performances, on my computer. So far, so good.

Then I used right click to share each album online via iCloud photo sharing.

Now, I'm getting notifications from Photos every 10 seconds or so with the above message. See image below. It says activity will resume at 11:14 pm.

What gives? I have space on my iCloud account, space I'm paying $10/month for, and I have plenty of available drive space there. So why aren't the photos uploading, and is there a way to override this strange sharing limit?

Macbook keeps showing question mark on startup

I am using MacBook 2010 with osx 10.6.8. Today when I started laptop it kept showing apple logo longer than expected then I read online which said to hold shift key when start. Doing that it started showing folder icon with question mark and it now keeps showing till laptop gets shut down. Right now I don't have any disk utility tool either. Please help

I like a very lean Mail system and have been searching for a way to hide the Archive folder in Mail. Is this possible? If so, how?

Exchange Delegate Mailbox in Mail.app

Currently I am running Yosemite, I am trying to ascertain if it's possible to add a delegate mailbox to the mail.app. As of yet I have been unable to do so. Unfortunately I cannot have this particular mailbox as another account as it doesn't have the ability to be logged into.

How do I change the action for Force Click on a Force Touch trackpad?

I have a new MacBook Pro Retina 13 Early 2015 with the Force Touch trackpad.

It's described to have the following feature:

Click and continue to press on the trackpad to enable new capabilities, like looking up a word's definition, previewing a file in the Finder, or creating a new Calendar event when you Force click a date in the text of an email.

Generally: How can I change, tweak, tune, enhance the 'capability' of this force click?

Particularly: I'd love to have it do translation in Safari and Terminal much more frequently than I want it to do dictionary lookup.

New Apple ID doesn't work

i just created a new Apple ID yesterday and whenever I try to download an app it just says waiting infinitely until I delete it, and when I try updating my apps, in the App Store it displays the stop logo but progress is never made and when I'm on the home page there is no indication that the apps are updating. How do I get the Apple ID to work on the App Store?

Safari - choose between "All Windows From Last Session"

Is there any way in Safari to view "All Windows From Last Session" without reopening them all? Any way to choose which of the windows from last session to restore?

I have one window that freezes Safari and disables all menu options and won't respond to ⌘W. I'd like to reopen "All Windows From Last Session Except For That One"

Any chance this is possible?

Hide the menu bar in Yosemite

Is it possible to completely hide the menu bar on an external monitor? I'm using my laptop with a projector, and while I can set the desktop background to completely black, the menu bar is still there. Even in dark mode there is still text. I would like to avoid showing any desktop UI if the presentation (Keynote) exits.

I cannot see a particular USB printer from AirPort Extreme

I have an older AirPort Extreme (UFO, Version 5.7).

I can connect an Epson MX330 printer to the USB port of the AirPort Extreme and it appears on the AirPort Utility "Printers" tab, and I can print to it.

I can connect a Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 directly to a MacBook Pro (10.6.8) USB port, and it automagically downloaded and installed the driver and will print to the Ricoh.

But when I plug the Ricoh into the AirPort Extreme USB port, it does not show up on the AirPort Utility "Printers" tab, and of course, won't show up on any AirPort connected device, either.

I have tried re-starting both the Ricoh and the AirPort Extreme while they were connected.

Any clues on how I can get this $20,000 printer to work with AirPort Extreme like the Epson that came free with my MacBook Pro does?

I am trying to compile VLC-ANDROID on OS X, but I'm having some problems. I installed libtool2.4.6 by using brew. Later, I found that OS X includes libtool2.4.3, so to prevent conflict brew renames its libtool to glibtool. How do I get VLC-android to see the brew installed version?

I want to switch to Tuxera NTFS for better support. But don’t know how to uninstall all these apps before completely switching to Tuxera.

Shuffle by album disk in iTunes

How I shuffle by disk in iTunes?

Would I mean is if an album has 5 disks, I like each disk to treated as a separate album only for shuffling purposes.

I think setting the sort album to disk number i.e. album name disk 1 but this had no effect.

N.b. this is not the same as shuffle by album.

New terminal to same directory

When I have a terminal window open, ⌘N opens a new one.

Is there any way to get the current directory in the new window to automatically be the same as it was on the window where I pressed ⌘N?

External Drive showing only in system profiler

I have had a 1TB Western Digital Ultra external hard drive for nearly year. Out of nowhere it will not show in disk utility but it does show in system profiler. I have a Macbook pro mid 2012 running Yosemite 10.10.1 I have of course tried searching myself but found no clear answers. I tried verifying the main disk and found nothing wrong. Other external drives work fine with this port and cable. Could it be a hard ware failure? Thanks for the support guys I'm just trying to identify possible causes.

MacBook Air 11" vs 13" performance differences

Isn't there a substantial performance difference between the performance of 11" and 13" MacBook Airs with equivalent specs? I've read about it before but not seeing the link explaining it now. It's maybe the 11" have less on-chip cash or something.

16G memory or an SSD to upgrade a Macbook?

The machine is mostly used for coding, compiling, web browsing, watching movies and listening to music. It is rarely CPU bound. The OS and applications and home directories should fit easily into 250 gigs with my media going onto the 1TB drive.

How to add calendar entries in iPhone 6?

I am trying to make entries in the calendar on iPhone 6. I complete everything as on my previous iPhone, but there is no 'done' button. Checked online and it says to press 'add' once complete.

I do this, but then the whole entry is lost without saving. What do I have to do to persist my appointments?

MacBook Pro 10.6.8 mid-2011 and HP Compaq LA2205wg working only when MBP on battery

Weird behavior of MBP and external HP screen. When MBP is on battery - everything works perfect. But when power supply is connected to MBP - external HP screen is going black. "Monitor going to sleep" info is displayed. Interesting thing - when it happens, you can still see this external monitor as "active" in "This MAC..." -> "More info..." -> "Graphics/monitors" tab. And change this external monitor resolution in System preferences. It's like Mac is seeing this external monitor as active, but in fact the monitor is going to sleep. After disconnecting power supply, external monitor comes back immediately. Connected via mini display port -> HDMI adapter -> HDMI -> cable -> DVI.

Can you please advise anything to make possible working on this monitor while being connected to power socket?

Wi-Fi proxy changes are not getting applied until restarted

I am connecting to my company VPN over a Wi-Fi and supposed to use a proxy server in order to connect to internet.

Sometime, I need to update the proxy server to a new value. If I change the proxy server value and Apply, the changes are not effective immediately. I had to restart my Mac and after that only it uses the changed proxy server.

I used to do that same thing in Windows, where I could just change the proxy server and save the changes and it works immediately.

Is there a command/way to tell Mac to use the new proxy server immediately (flushing DNS / Networks values, etc)?

Prevent .AppleDouble folders on NFS shares

I've got at home:

• a Debian server running multiple services, including NFS shares;


• one Mac that I use most of the time


• several Android devices


• a Windows client

All happily access the files on the server, as read/write.

Now for some reason my Mac thinks it's smarter than every one else and puts all of his turds in every folder. I understand there's a value added when doing this on local HFS shares (or on the server's HFS TimeMachine partition). However when dealing in public (I mean on a server shared with foreign OSes), I think it should behave and keep it to the minimum.

The Mac is a laptop, but it is most of the time sitting on a desk with external keyboard/screen/mouse, which means it keeps the NFS shares mounted most of the time. Which is nice. Which means it keeps watching everything and puts his .AppleDouble turds everywhere as soon as they are deleted.

Future OSX updates for Mac Pro 2010 (5,1)

Obviously, software cannot be updated indefinitely. I know the concerned Mac has Yosemite but would like to know how likely it is to get the next update and how many more years it is likely to last. I know Yosemite is available as far back as Mac Pro 2008, so by this logic, 2010 model should get updates upto 2016. However, Apple aren't always so predictable so if anyone has any idea I'd appreciate it, as I'm looking to buy a 2010 model and don't want to if it'll be obsolete in just 2 years

I was deleting some old AirPort items in Keychain Access, and somehow I managed to delete both public and private entries from the top of the list.

I don't notice any problems with my machine, but can someone explain what I deleted and how I should fix my misstep?

Tweets through ios simulator through my iphone app does not show up on my twtitter feed.

I connected a tweeting option in my iphone app (really simple one) but even though I connected my account when ever i tweet something it sends but doesnt show up in my twiiter feed.

My iPod is stuck at the update screen and I can't even do a hard reset

I just tried to update my iPod Touch (generation 5, 32GB, only about a year old) to iOS 8.2 through iTunes on my computer, instead of over WiFi like I usually do.

Everything was going fine. It downloaded to my computer and everything, started to update, got past the "connect to iTunes" screen and all that, but then iTunes gave me an error and my iPod is now stuck at the update screen with the Apple logo and an empty progress bar. I can't even hard reset, I've actually pushed down the power button for about a full minute and it's still just sitting there like I hadn't done anything.

I've tried plugging it into my computer again as well, just to see what would happen. My computer registers something being plugged in, but the device doesn't show up anywhere except "Devices and Printers" as "Apple USB Storage Device Driver".

Please help, I don't know what to do. Every page I've looked at has no solution to it just sitting completely unresponsive to even trying to do a hard reset. I'm currently waiting for it to just run out of battery, but who knows for one, how long that will take, and two what will happen after that.

Can I get rid of these timestamps in terminal?

I'm getting Javascript output in my terminal and it currently looks like this:

Is there a way to get rid of the timestamps at the beginning of each line? I'm not sure if this is something I somehow added at some point or if it's the default behaviour (or perhaps coming from the Javascript?).

Either way it's annoying because it takes up space and makes copy pasting the output a pain.

Upgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.9 on a Mac G5

I have an old G5 with the following serial number G87391T6UPZ. Can I upgrade this computer to 10.9 or 10.10?

I can't seem to find an official website that tells me 'yes' or 'no'. It runs on a 2.66 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon. There was a website that mentioned early 2008 and up can upgrade. But not sure when this was made...

Is there an WWDC student scholarship for 2015?

I am a student developer developing for iOS. I've seen the WWDC 2014 scholarship, and I am pretty interested in it. At the time of this writing, the Apple student scholarship have not updated to accept 2015 scholarship applications yet. And since the 2015 WWDC is a few months away (I think), and at the time of this writing it is like the end of March, plus last year the applications were accepted at April 14, surely they would start accepting applications now? Is Apple providing a student scholarship for 2015? Thanks.

How to set a Calendar alert for AFTER completion of an event?

I would like to set calendar alerts to happen at the scheduled completion time of my events - whatever that may be. I can't seem to figure out a way to do this. You can create alarms that go off before an event starts, at the start time, or a fixed number of minutes after start time. But is there a way to set an alarm that triggers AT OR AFTER the completion time of an event, without having to specify the exact date & time?

Archive/set some photos in Photos.app not to be synced with iCloud Photo Library

I want to use iCloud Photo Library just to get photos I take on my phone to my computer. My Photo Stream would work fine if it was reliable. Now I have more than 5GB of photos so I have to pay at least $1 a month just to sync photos unless there is a way to download only or archive some photos not to be synced with iCloud Photo Library (yet still viewable in the app).

How to disable spotlight for Alfred

I use Alfred instead of spotlight but sometimes I accidentally press cmd + space( Spotlight Shortcut ) instead of double shift( Alfred Shortcut ). I want to disable Spotlight( shortcut + not run it in background as well ) so might not open it. Also, does Alfred use spotlight file indexing if yes then I might not want to disable that but if no I would like to disable that as well.

Need app to read EUDORA mail (that mailbox file format)

I was unable to successfully copy my 20 years of Eudora emails to Thunderbird. The process is difficult to follow & just seems to hang.

There must be a simple app that will allow me to open a Eudora mailbox folder, and select an email from an index list, and read the contents. Its just a "flat file" with a marker to separate each email. And maybe a separate toc (table of contents) file with the header data and a pointer to the location in the flat file.

And somebody please create the tag "Eudora"

Greek letter shortcuts in Keynote 6.5

I recently switched to Keynote for writing scientific talks. I use tons of greek letters and need a fast way to type them in. I have seen on other questions and forums that people just change the auto-correct settings to replace things like \lambda with the Greek letter. However, in Keynote 6.5 I cant seem to find the auto-correct settings to do this. Its looks like they moved it out of the preferences menu. Anyone know where this is, or have another solution?

Multiple Wi-Fi APs: Use same or different SSID?

I have multiple Wi-Fi access points in my house. What's the best practice, should I use the same or different SSIDs?

I currently have different SSIDs because I like to know which AP I'm logged in to. But handover takes ages. Would that work better/faster when using just a single SSID?

My clients are mostly iPhones and iPads and the APs are non-Apple (AVM Fritz!Box and Digitus).

Could the Java Updater (com.oracle.java.Java-Updater) be the source of all my kernel panics?

In the past few months I've been getting more kernel panics than usual. This is on my late 2012 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Mac Mini, running OS X Yosemite (OS X 10.2.2) with 16 GB of RAM.

Looking at the console logs following the last panic, I can see that immediately before the crash, com.oracle.java.Java-Updater had been spamming my log. Here's a sample:

From what it looks like, com.oracle.java.Java-Updater had sent around 77,000 message like this before crapping out.

I'm out of ideas — both regarding whether Java is actually responsible, and if so what to do. I need Java for a few programs I run, so deleting it isn't an option, unfortunately.

Apple iPhone 5s [on hold]

My iPhone has been cloned and hacked. It also was jailbroken. The hacker got in through my wifi and facebook account. Pretty serious now. I lost all of my passwords, they changed them all. My App Store and Safari icons were gone. My emails stopped, I had been sending and receiving several professional responses to my report of being hacked. Facebook, Apple, Avast, Google, Yahoo, and many others. But in addition to those, I was getting the notification email every time my password was changed. The emails showed the city of the person who made the change, all of which were other than my own. I can't reset passwords. As quickly as I get new ones set up, they've been changed again. More events have occurred since I wrote my original question, I've found out so much more and am on my way to resolving my issue.

My primary question was: if I reset my phone back to factory settings, would that "un"jailbreak my iPhone?

Full wifi/ethernet signal but no internet. macbook pro

I'm really hoping someone here can help me, as I'm getting pretty frustrated with my macbook now.

I have a late 2011 model 15" macbook pro running OSX 10.9.5 that refuses to connect to Internet on my home network. I have the same problem whether it's WiFi or through ethernet cable, I have full signal but not getting online. Every other device connects fine; android phones and tablets,xbox one, iPhone and other macbooks, all online and browsing the net.

I have had no problems connecting to other networks with my macbook pro before and I just tried at a friend's house to check, with no problems.

A little something, that may be a clue to someone: when I open network diagnostic tool, my macbook pro connects for something that seems like a microsecond and it tells me I'm connected to Internet and everything seems fine.

My IP is 192.168.0.5 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and IPv6 is set to automatic. None of the options are checked under the proxies tab.

Now I've tried the following, in different order and a number of times, to no avail:

1. Renewing/turning off&on/inputting manually DHCP.


2. Restarting/resetting the router and the macbook.


3. Turning WiFi on/off.


4. Remove & add services (WiFi & ethernet).


5. Checked and copied all network settings from another macbook pro that's connected and online on my network.


6. Ran network diagnostic and assistant tools


7. Duplicated/removed/added location


8. Removed the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration folder.


9. Removed network password from keychain.

I've tried other things too, but can't remember what else right now.

OS X 10.9.5 (13F34): CMD+TAB Won't Switch Away From PowerPoint 2011 (for Mac)

Since I threw out my Windows machine six months ago, I've appreciated not having to deal with "techie" stuff anymore as I only use text programs and the Internet.

However, one annoyance has persisted for long and this involves switching back and forth in spaces and between desktops with PowerPoint 2011 (for Mac).

Yes, I know. I shouldn't be using such an old program when trying to get cool on a Mac. However, sadly, occacioally I have to use this program at work for external clients who prefer this program.

CMD+TAB is able to swith to an open Powerpoint 2011 application, but you CAN'T switch away from the application again using CMD+TAB. I can CMD+TAB switch between any other application, but not away from Powerpoint 2011.

Please tell me if this is a problem with my MacBook or a general bug that Apple may not have an interest in fixing.

Previosly, when using 4-finger scroll into a desktop with an open Powerpoint 2011 application, it would automatically jump away from that desktop again. I fixed it using a terminal command even I hated having to deal with techie stuff again.

Well. Could anyone kindly advice me how to allow CMD+TAB switch away from PowerPoint 2011?

Unable to boot up My Mac. Getting a flashing folder with a question mark

I currently own a 15 inch MacBook Pro with retina display model ( early 2013) . My Mac was working fine and all of a sudden my Mac won't boot up. I see a flashing folder with a question mark symbol on my screen.

I took my Mac to a technician who diagnosed the issue and said flash disk has to be replaced . He said "Reseted SMC and PRAM. Still same issue. Tried to erase the SSD by booting with known good OS. still same issue. tried to erase the SSD using terminal mode same issue. tried to repair the SSD found not getting repaired. Reseated the SSD and tried to erase the SSD still not able to erase the SSD"

Is there any other way to fix this issue without replacing the SSD ?

Or could you suggest any other SSD for this model of Mac ?

Can I use a large external hard drive both as installation media and backup drive?

I am planning to upgrade my Mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro to Yosemite from Snow Leopard, on a new SSD hard drive.

Being more experienced now with UNIX/Mac, I want to have a clean install to get rid of the beginner cruft I had built up. My idea of a backup is simply a basic copy/paste of my Home folder (about 130GB). Here's my plan:

1. Using Disk Utility, partition my new 500GB external hard drive into two parts. One for my Home folder backup, and the other for the installation media.


2. Copy my Home folder to the backup partition on the external hard drive.


3. Use createinstallmedia on the other partition. Tutorial here.


4. Install my new SSD.


5. Plug in my external hard drive. Hold down Option key when turning on the computer, and proceed from there.

Does that sound like a good plan? My apprehension is that the two-partition setup on my external hard drive might corrupt my backup data, given that I also set it up as a bootable installer media.

ZTE Connection Manager quits unexpectedly when opening to register internet key from Wind, on Macbook OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1

I installed ZTE Connection manager (MF667) and when i open the app in my applications to register my simcard it opens the page but then keeps on quitting by itself within 2 seconds saying that "ZTE Connection Manager Quit Unexpectedly" I have tried un-installing and re-installing again, it doesn't make any difference.

The ZTE Connection Manager is for the internet key (aka dongle) i bought from Wind (Italy).

Anyone, pretty pleaseeee help....(puppy eyes and if ur cat person then kitten eyes ^^)

profile manager: iOS device can delete management profile

How does one prevent deletion of management profiles?

I have marked mt "profile for everyone" -> General -> Security -> Never

I marked "never" in relevant device profile "general" setting as well.

I can push the profile & see it updated on the device. And then go to "remove profile", enter my passcode, and it's gone.

What is the trick to make a profile stick?

Booting up gets hung up at around 50%

I have a 2008-era 15-inch MacBook Pro, with Yosemite on it. The battery recently failed and, using only the power adapter, with the battery removed, the status bar gets stuck at 50%.

Is it only a battery issue, or is this a different problem?

iPhone 6 calendar entries

I am trying to make entries in the calendar on iPhone 6, I complete everything as on previous iPhone but there is no 'done' button. Checked online and it says to press 'add' once complete. I do this but then the whole entry is lost without saving :( can anyone help!

Update iPhone 5

When I updated my last iPhone 4s to the newest iOS ( 8.2 ) the Wi-Fi was broken after that. Now I have a new iPhone 5 with the iOS version 8.0.2. Would it be risky to update that too?

MBA with Syslinux on USB

I'm trying to boot a Linux kernel built with Buildroot from USB on my Yosemite Macbook Air. I have followed the first steps in Failed To Install syslinux on USBDRIVE with Mac OS X, i.e. - DiskUtility stuff - Syslinux stuff

At this stage I wanted to verify that the boot loader works, so I placed a simple one liner syslinux.cfg file on the USB:

SAY Hello

When I boot from the USB, by holding the 'alt' key, I expect a "Hello" on the screen, but nothing happens. It just hangs with semi-dark screen — not completely dark. Any suggestions?

Thunderbolt display firmware update 1.2

I have a got a problem with the thunderbolt display firmware 1.2. MY screen is not compatible because it was purchased in 2012 and the update can not be performed. However, the update keeps reappearing on the Appstore updates. I tried the what Apple recommends on:

However, nothing changes and the update keeps posting. Many people are complaining about it. Anyone has an idea how to disable this update? Thank you all for the support!

Every window opened generates a "The function ‘CGContextErase’ is obsolete" message in console

my Mac is running OSX Yosemite 10.10.2.

I recently found out that in my console such messages:

[A process name and its pid]: The function ‘CGContextErase’ is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.

would occur for every window I opened.

I tried $ sample -e -wait [Application Name] then launch the application, but in the report I can't find any call to CGContextErase.

Is there anyway to reveal what is behind all this?

How to switch to the day calendar with iOS 7

I recently switched an iPhone from iOS 6 to iOS 7.1.2. Within iOS 6 I was using Calendar on the day display and week display mode continuously. It was easy to a point I can't even recall how I did this switching (we should take notes when we see an interface which is working nicely).

With iOS 7.1.2 I have a serious interface problem.

Within Calendar I am able to switch from an annual view to a month view with the month name topleft red button. I discovered that I can also switch back to the month view by clicking on the month name red header. But I can't see any way to switch to a day or week view. On the bottom left corner I have a Today red button, but it doesn't do anything.

What is the intelligent method to access the actual day calendar?

Disk Utility message "Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required"

Finder crashed on a external drive which caused an abrupt eject. I rand Disk Utility over the drive and the operation finished with the message:

Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required

Its a FAT32 partition, it already existed, and it was not bootable so its not clear to me what required updating.

What does the message "Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required" mean? Or how can I determine the changes were made?

Using 2133 ram on mid macbook 2012

To be more specific, i'm thinking on buying this ram for my mid 2012 macbook pro. According to this post it seems possible to run 2133, though i'm still not sure if it's really running 2133 and would it give better performance rather then 1866? I'm running heavy virtual envs. on my macbook, and my current 8gb ram is way not enough.
