The Messages app in iOS 8 provides a convenient function to record and send voice & video messages as part of an ongoing chat dialog.
Receiving a call while using Messages' build-in recording functionality results in a total loss of the recording in progress.
Assuming immediate access to any and all resources necessary, how can we go about recovering them?
A few days back my MBP had lot issues like multiple beeping sounds as well as black screen anomalies. Beeping sound issue goes away, when I force shutdown. When I took it for repair, they reported that there was an issue with logic drive/board and RAM. And they have replaced my logic board and now it was working fine.
Here my question is how do I check the properties of logic drive, like when it is manufactured and its condition. Again, I trust Apple support (they are really good) but just wanted to convince myself.
Is there any way to check the properties of the MBP hardware.
I have a macbook pro mid 2012 non retina facetime hd camera. It is advertised as having a facetime hd camera however the frame rate seems to be very low (14.5 fps). Is this normal?
Once a location shows up in frequently visited locations, how long do I need to be at that location for a subsequent visit to show up (in frequently visited locations)?
I have been changing my accounts for a month now, All the sudden it wouldn't go to the other account after changing my gamecenter. It would change it but in game it would not go to the other account.
My FileVault says that I have to wait for 43 days for it to finish optimizing something. As soon as I launch any application it stops working. So the only time that I can dedicate for the FileVault to finish optimizing is 8-12 hours of night which makes 43 days in reality 86 days. The readings are always jumping, one time you might see 3532 days remaining but never goes below 20 days.
Maybe someone has stumbled upon this problem previously? How to speed things up, I can't wait for 3532 days for the optimization to complete that looks nonsense...

My disk drive capacity is 498 gigs, 68 gigs are unused, I have verified file system health with Disk Utility (did that in recovery mode)
I've always used my USB on this computer. The only issue i would have is that it wouldn't always appear on screen, but i would just eject it and put it back in and it would all be ok. Today for some reason it wouldn't recognize it. I go in disk utility and it doesn't say anything (see image) i need to access this USB for work, so please someone help. I don't know a lot about mac, so please help with whatever you think you can.

Earlier today, I created a custom bullets list in a Pages document, saved it as "Note Taking (Custom)," and created an fn-F5 shortcut for it.
When I create a New Pages document, there is no history of the saved bullets list I mention above. Does anyone know a better way of getting around this, other than something janky like copy-pasting the content from an old Pages file into the new one and re-saving my custom bullets list every time I create a New Pages document?
The frequent locations information does not seem particularly robust or accurate. Is there (safe and reliable) 3rd party software that can go through my iPhone's PAST history and give me a more detailed report of my phone's locations? Thanks!
I'm trying to write a script which changes the underscan value on my Mac mini, but I haven't found the .plist file containing the setting.

Is there any way to create custom keyboard shortcuts that do whatever you want through a third-party app or through regular Mac OS X? I want to create a shortcut that will bring up the power dialogue box. (As shown in the screenshot) 
I have long periods of time with no working internet because my 802.11 wlan connection gets lost frequently. This only occurs on my Mac. It runs OS X 10.10.2.
When showing the desktop after starting up the computer, the wifi symbol in the superbar shows the network searching for a wlan connection. Very often, every other startup or so, it won't find the connection to my wifi network. Turning the machine off, plugging the power cable for 20 seconds, plugging the cable back in, wait another 5 seconds and turning it back on usually helps.
I don't have any connection issues with the Windows PC or the iPad, it's just the Mac. Checking the web shows some talk about wireless lan driver issues with Macs (Update from 10.10 to 10.10.1 and then to 10.10.2) with nothing really having changed for my Mac.
I've called Apple service, they have a set of procedures they apply, but that doesn't fix the issue permamently.
I tried plugging in another wlan adapter (actually two different ones) and use it instead of the onboard device, but OS X didn't seem to recognize the devices.
I'm somewhat at my wit's end about the issue.
I'm using hardware encryption on my WD My Book since program encryption build in OS X backup was performing extremely slow.
In last OS X(10.10.2) update they asked to use password for drive encryption and it's seems like entire drive is encrypted now with that password. Does it means encoded backup will copy encoded data without encryption on the fly and perform faster now so I can switch off my hardware encoding.
After hesitating and then doing the latest update, my 4s has many problems!! texting takes me about 4 times as long to do, as the device lags and then tries to catch up really fast and misses words or misspells other words and I'm constantly fixing stuff... SIRI comes on when I change my phone from vertical to horizontal and visa versa... different apps will shut down before they even start, or will start and shut down in the middle of using the app.... also, my phone is no longer compatible with my car via USB. Is there any way to fix this?? My phone has been backed up on iTunes post upgrade, and other than this 'issue', there is nothing wrong with my phone! it's in MINT condition, and I've had it going on 4 years now.... I don't want to upgrade (which is why I've taken such good care of this phone)... HELP!!!!
I want to mirror the screen of an iOS device onto a Windows PC. I only found solutions which either uses a VGA-adapter or AirPlay. Because AirPlay uses WiFi I seek for a more stable and independent solution. I stumbled on iTools but it seems it isn't developed anymore. It used a USB connection for showing the screen.
The only things which would suit my needs are either using a VGA/HDMI-adapter or using iOS 8 with Ad-Hoc WiFi and AirPlay. But then I would adapters for Lightning and Dock-Connector. On the other side it won't work for iOS 7 if I use the AirPlay method.
So is there any software out there which can mirror the screen via USB onto a Windows PC?
So I have this problem with Photoshop CS6 and NetBeans being very sluggish and laggy on my new rMBP 2014 15" 16GB RAM. It's running perfectly fine on my iMac 2009 21" 4GB RAM school computer, except for the occasional lag of RAM.
Activity Monitor shows that there's plenty of RAM and CPU power at all times, and still it's so sluggish and laggy.
Specs: Processor 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB, Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)

I plugged iPad 3 and iPad Air 2 into laptop through iTunes. All apps are showing except for "Geocaching". I cannot drag it from iPad 3 to iPad 2. All I get is a box with the line through.
How can I get this app I purchased on the iPad 3 on to my new iPad Air 2?
Most of my songs on my iPhone are ripped from CDs. In this case, song information like artist name are typed by myself, saved and synced well to my iPhone through iTunes but some cases, the information is automatically changed then saved. I'm perfectly sure it's the songs from artists that i've purchased from iTunes before.
For example, if I ripped songs then put the artist name with all capitalized like "KING CRIMSON", and sync to my iPhone, it shows me the exact same artist name.
But if the songs were from artist that I purchased before from iTunes, then the artist name capitalized is changed as uppercase remained only on first letter automatically during sync process (e.g., "BEATLES" → "Beatles")
The point is that even songs ripped, not purchased from iTunes are changed, too if the artist's songs were once purchased before.

I have a Macbook Air (mid 2013) and two Dell U2715H monitors.
I am able to connect the one monitor to the Macbook via the DisplayPort-MiniDisplayPort cable. This works great!
Now I want to connect the second monitor. This I can do via the DP1.2 (out) port on the first monitor and then attach it to the MiniDisplayPort in the second. Also works... well, not so great. It just mirrors the first screen.
Is there anyway to tell the Mac (Yosemite) that it's actually two monitors? Both the monitors and the Macbook Air seems to support DP1.2 and MST.
I have read various posts here on StackExchange and other sites, that states that this should both be possible and that it is impossible, so I'm a bit in the dark here.
One of the posts mentioned that it was a driver issue, and that it worked OK on Windows 7 and 8.
Are there any software or third party driver that would make it work?
I bought a 2015 Macbook Pro 15" retina, 16GB memory 1TB SSD. I use Visual studio on day time on windows 8 and work on Mac, open source technologies at night and on weekends. I first thought of using VMWare and load windows for my day time use but i am a little confused on which config i should do.
I am thinking of using bootcamp since all i do is windows during day time(may be dedicate 250GB ?) and dedicate 500GB for Mac OS . And then may be dedicate 200 GB for VMware on MacOS to load windows for some rare scenarios where i need to test both windows and mac apps at the same time (like Xamarin)
Is this a bad idea to config my laptop like this or do you guys have any ideas that you can share for this scenario ?

Actually. My heart is quite good. However, my patience is running thin. I can scan using Fujitsu's suck software. But I can't using Preview.
But when I look at Preview > File > Import from Scanner, it's greyed out.
I've done all the things listed here.
And... there is paper in the loader. I'm connected directly to usb (no hub).
Any help gets you good vibes from 🌵 land (Arizona). 😁

I was fooling around with iPhone 6 plus and found that when you place finger twice on finger scanner or rotate your finger on the scanner the currently running app or the menu views move down to half for the screen.
I'm not worried of this behavior but I am curious why such thing is happening.
My disk utility shows that the path is verified when I repair and verify the disk. It shows up fine in disk utility. But even after that, it doesn't show up on my hard drive, either on the left nav or in the main screen. I've indicated that I want hard drives to show up in Finder Preferences, to no avail.
Thoughts? Help!
When I mouse over a phone number in Safari, it is now a link which tries to call via Skype. I can't see any option within Skype or Safari to disable this. How do I do this?
I'm using latest versions: Safari 8.0.3 and Skype 7.5.
I want to cycle through recently used tabs in Safari 7.1.3 (MacOS 10.9.5) like one can in in Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. I predominantly run Opera 11.64, and it exhibits the best behavior for this recently-used-tab switching. Is there a way to do this in Safari, even if it requires an extension/plugin/addon of some kind?
Note: cycling/switching between tabs in most-recently-used (aka "visited") order is different than simply cycling through all the tabs as they are listed at the top of the browser; the latter seems more-commonly discussed.

I sent a confirmation page from Safari to the printer and quit Safari, only to realize that the printer does not actually exist. The only remaining copy of this information is in the print queue.
How do I salvage the information waiting to be printed so I can use it again?
Note: Dragging the enqueued item from the non-existant printer's queue to an existant printer's queue will print the item. I would like to know how to save the file waiting to be printed so it can be used again.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" early 2011 model with a 500 GB internal hard disk drive (non-SSD). Currently running OSX 10.8.5 on a 300 GB partition, and Windows 7 via Bootcamp on a 200 GB partition. OSX is under backup via TimeMachine, Windows is backed up manually on an external hard drive as a simple copy.
I would like to replace the internal hard disk drive with an Intel DC S3500 480GB SSD. Changing the drive itself should be easy via a guide I've found. But... instead of the 300GB/200GB partitions I currently have, I'm aiming for 400GB/80GB partitions on the SSD. The Windows 7 Bootcamp partition I currently have uses only 70GB, so I'd like it to occupy the 80GB partition on the SSD. Once I'm on the SSD, I will upgrade OSX to Yosemite.
Question: I would like to migrate both my current installation of OSX and the installation of Windows to their respective new (differently sized) partitions on the SSD, without having to re-install the OS'es. What steps do I need to take to make this work? (Any pitfalls?)
I have run out of space on my 16gb iPad . Over 7.2 go are my photos and video. Is it possible to separate my photos and keep most on iCloud or iTunes, accessing only when I wish to review them. How can I do so if possible. I need to free up space. Also, any quick way to delete duplicate photos or files?
The default notification sound is the rather subtle Basso alert sound. However, I would like to have a loud alert sound when there is a notification with a high priority. Is that possible?

I've tried following every instruction available to prevent my desktop mac from receiving my text messages or notifications that texts are being sent or received and can't get it taken care of so far. I want to completely disable the feature on my desktop. Does anyone know how/if this can be done?
I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, late 2011) When I upgraded to Yosemite, it was fine until a month ago, then there is no day that my computer does not restart/freeze randomly. I am really tired of it, so any help is really appreciated. What I have done? Basically everything:
Start up in safe mode Reset parameter random-access memory (PRAM) Repair the startup disk/ disk permissions, I tried to use Apple Hardware Test, but I get error 2002D error After all that I did, I even clean installed Yosemite (I mean, I formatted my disk and then installed again) it was okay for a week but then started again.

In Calendar on Yosemite, I want to change the default Calendar alert to an email. I know how to access the default calendar alerts, but those only allow me to change when the message alert pops up, not whether it's a message or an email. I'd rather not have to create a custom alert for every single calendar event I create.
I know I could use Google Calendar as my main calendar, as it allows me to configure the default alerts I want, but I'd to keep everything in my Mac Calendar.
About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my Mac Mail on Yosemite no longer fetches contact information from my Exchange contacts when suggesting email address autocompletes. Under "Internet Accounts" in System Preferences, the Contacts check box automatically unchecks itself whenever I check it.

I want to attach a full size keyboard to my macbook for at least a couple of reasons:
a) the macbook keyboard is slightly undersized. It is enough so to give my fingers headaches (or something like that..)
b) I want to look straightforward at the screen but not use an external monitor. Thus I would position the keyboard 12 inches below a small pedestal for the mac
Having looked at numerous sites I can not find a full size keyboard with trackpad. There are very few options for keyboard with trackpad for Mac to choose from. Do any exist?
I am using my Mac to write Java code in Eclipse. Not frequently, but commonly enough I need special characters such as ^, ~ or `. The problem with these is that I have to press the key(-combination) followed by a space in order to insert the character, since these keys are used to create special characters such as ã or è. However, this is really impractical since I can't use them in Java anyway.
Is there a way to disable this feature globally on OS X Yosemite (german keyboard layout)?

I want to store my configuration files in source control and symlink them so they will be used by MacVim. Looking at :scriptnames I see vimrc and gvimrc being used in:

My source controlled vim files are located in:
~/Programming/Personal (both gvim and vimrc are here)
How do I setup the symlink? Do I need to delete the existing gvim and vimrc files located in /Applications?

I want to use BibTeX with Apple Pages for creating references to my .bib bibliography and also insert the bibliography into a Pages document. I would like to use .bst style sheets to format the bibliography.
I'm currently working with BibDesk but could change to JabRef.
I am using CHM View at the moment. The problem is that when I do a typing mistake in one word. I have to wait for long time. I would like to have no continuous search. Only searching when I hit enter.
Is there any application for CHM where the search is not continuous?
Applescript run by osascript is not allowed Assistive Access when launched by agent (~/Library/LaunchAgents). Although it works when run from Applescript editor or commandline directly (using osascript).
The applescript performs several GUI tasks for batch printing and is run twice daily. Therefore it needs permission to access Assistive Devices and is launched by an agent.
The script runs as expected when launched from:
When launched by Agent it returns:
/location/of/my.scpt: execution error: System Events got an error: osascript does not have access to assistive devices. (-25211)

This led me to believe the issue is with osascript, but like I stated above, it works fine when entered directly from command-line using: osascript /location/of/my.scpt.
Also, based on these two posts I edited the /Library/Application\ Support/com.apple.TCC/TCC.db SQLite database and when I check the 'access' table it shows:

As you can see osascript is allowed access and I also added my agent's .plist for good measure.
The only thing I can think of is that, for some reason, the script is run by a 'different user' when launched by an Agent and therefore has different assistive devices allowed? Seems unlikely, however, as the TCC.db does not seem to be user-specific and the agent is located in ~/Library/LaunchAgents.
