Stream movie from iPod Touch to DLNA device

I'm trying to play a movie from my iPod Touch to a DLNA device. I'm using the iOS 8 app TV Assist but it can't find my "WD TV HD" device but they are both in the same WiFi network. Does the DLNA functionality require a "visible" SSID? (mine is currently "hidden")
