Can the new (2015) Apple Photos app import smart albums and events from iPhoto?

The new Apple Photos app has been released in a Beta stage. Developers are testing and playing with the technology.

Based on feedback from Apple, developers and magazines, there has been no mention of whether Events and Smart Albums will work after the migration from iPhoto to Photos. Albums will be migrated but it isn't clear if Smart Albums will be.

This makes me believe I should be converting all my events and smart albums into simple, static albums to ensure I don't lose my organisation systems.

Can any tester or product manager answer this question?
