New Apple ID doesn't work

i just created a new Apple ID yesterday and whenever I try to download an app it just says waiting infinitely until I delete it, and when I try updating my apps, in the App Store it displays the stop logo but progress is never made and when I'm on the home page there is no indication that the apps are updating. How do I get the Apple ID to work on the App Store?
