WPS Connection to Ipod Touch

I am trying to connect to my router using WPS. I do not have access to the Password for the router. Is there any steps that I am missing as I can not seem to find a Option to activate WPS on the iPod. Is this option available on the iPod? If so please assist accordingly.

Play folder or file in iTunes without adding it into library

Is there a way to play a file or folder in iTunes without adding it into iTunes library?

I have quite large collection of music that i want to listen to but not necessarily keep. So i want to be able to listen to some music files in a given folder (be it a complete album or just a collection of various songs) and once i'm done listening and close iTunes i want all the files that i just listened to be gone from iTunes library.

And if it is not possible, maybe there is a workaround to achieve similar results?

Ipad cellular data error message

Every time I open my iPad air, I get a popup message stating I have not signed up for a data plan.i have tried all of the suggestions. My cellular data is turned off, my Bluetooth is turned off, and I have rebooted. I still get the error message asking me to sign up for a data plan...very frustrating!!!

How to permanently fix a periodic, frequent loss of network connectivity under iOS 8.1.x on iPhone?

Ever since upgrading my iPhone 5S from iOS 7 to iOS 8, I experience frequently (usually once a day) a complete loss of internet connectivity, both via Wifi and LTE (T-Mobile). The only workaround is to reboot the phone. I have already tried deleting all network settings, and in upgrading to iOS 8, I set up my iPhone as a new phone. I have an iPad Air 2 also running iOS 8.1.3 that does not have this problem.

Are others experiencing this issue on their iPhones?

How can I stop loading external images in OS X Mail?

I get a ton of spam every day and it makes me crazy that to mark it a spam or delete it I have to select the email, which opens it and loads all its images.

We all know spam emails contain distant images that are used for tracking, and opening the email is bad as it marks my email address "active" to spammers.

Many email clients have an option to prevent loading external images by default, is there a way to do that with OS X's Mail?

How can I get an external display that is mirrored to have a smaller resolution than what I see on my Macbook Pro?

I'm trying to help a sight impaired and somewhat physically impaired person. They have an assistant that uses the Macbook Pro while he watches on an external monitor.

The only thing is that for the sight impaired person to see what is going on while the assistant is working the resolution (mirrored) is so low, meaning bigger fonts, that it makes it difficult for the assistant to work on the Macbook Pro in that environment.

What can we do to remedy this? Is there any software to make a mirrored external display bigger than the computer?

Logic board switch

So if i take out my logic board in my 2011 11inch I5 2gb of ram air and put in a 2011 11inch I7 4gb of ram logic board will it work

Php version shown in command line differs from phpinfo(); in localhost:8000

I started my OS X php test server by typing

php -S localhost:8000

I updated my php on OS X to 5.6 and when I check the version through the command line by typing:

php -v

It tells me that I have "PHP 5.6.5"

When I start my php test server and look at the index.php file that has the "phpinfo();" function, it tells me that I still have version 5.5.14 that comes with OS X.

What can I do to get my php version on localhost:8000 to reflect that change?

Once I figure that out, I also am going to work at getting mcrypt working.

How does iAd's work really?

Does the person who make the app and implement iAd into their app get paid more if they play a certain number of ads in every View Controller? Or does the developer get paid more if there is ONE single ad banner across all view controllers and that 1 ad is played at all times until it changes by itself and that really gives the user a longer time to look at it and possibly interact with it.

Two iPhones, buth synced but with different contacts

I have two iPhones and I would like to have them nicely synced calendar and task, but to keep different contacts. One is an office phone and I would like not to have my private numbers etc. Currently, on my old phone I have mail + contacts synced with Google, and Calendars, Reminders on iCloud, same as on my MacBook Air.

Xcode 6.1.1 OpenMP/MPI

I just downloaded Xcode 6.1.1 on my MacBook Pro hoping that it would have the ability to compile code written with either the OpenMP or MPI libraries. However it appears it does not. I was reading online that Xcode 5 didn't have support for OpenMP or MPI and it seems to me that that (lack of) functionality continued. Is this so?

Perhaps I should ask this as a different question, but any suggestions on where/how to get OpenMP and MPI enabled for my MacBook (OS X 10.9.5)?

Running OS X as a guest under Linux

I want to get into IOS development, but for that I need a MAC. I can't afford one so I though instead I'd just run one through Oracle's VirtualBox. I managed to get OS X to run as a guest under my Linux system. However, it only boots into Shell, do you know of any way to change it? I'm using Oracle's Virtual Box and Linux Mint 17.

Can't ssh into iPhone

I used to be able to do this a while ago, but now, for some reason I can't. I have installed and later reinstalled OpenSSH on my iPhone.

ssh root@10.0.1.16

Returns that the connection to 10.0.1.16 on port 22 timed out, doing this with root access returns this:

ssh: connect to host 10.0.1.16 port 22: Host is down

So what can I do? This used to work.

Burn DVD from MacbookPro Retina on a PC?

I just finished editing a 2hr HD video interview of an oral history about a famous artist on my 2012 MacbookPro retina running OSX 10.8.4. And now I'm being asked to put it on DVD (not what the original delivery method was going to be).

I'm working in Adobe Premiere Pro, and ideally I would like to use the adobe dynamic link to build my DVD in Encore. Is there a way that I can burn directly to the DVD burner on my PC?

I can't install or remove windows 7 or later using Boot Camp Assistance?

I tried for a couple days to install Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro which has OSX Yosemite (10.10.2). As you see in the capture, the third checkbox is disabled. I create a Windows 7 on a USB flash and downloaded the latest Windows support software from Apple, all I have to do is install it on the Mac.

What's the problem here?

Quickly disable internet browsing on iOS device for parental control

Whenever I hand the iPad off to one of my kids, I would like to quickly disable or limit internet browsing on the iPad, not necessarily internet altogether, but anything that can be accessed via Safari or an in-app browser. I know there are the in-built parental restrictions, but modifying the Web restrictions is a six step process to limit sites before, and a six step process to re-enable after. I would like something that's quicker to use and preferably pin-protected, and something along the lines of "disable for 1 hour" or "disable until I say so". It doesn't need to be a complete disable of web-browsing, but at the very least, some child-safe mode.

In short, I would like something similar to iOS's own web restrictions, but much quicker to access.

OSX Mac Filevault2 prevent shutdown on login screen

I recently encrypted my 2014 Mac, OS X 10.9.5, using FileVault2. I noticed that the computer shuts after 5 minutes if there is no activity on the login screen. I believe this is a feature of FileVault2, but I am unable to confirm through Google searches.

If this is the case, is there a setting to prevent shutdown?

I have bought macbook pro os x yosemite 2 days ago. After i transferred my file through (windows sharing) i come to mnow that Disk utility didnt install properly as it says demaged or incomplete. so i had to restore is as new.1st time it took more than 8 hrs cos i slept after 5 hrs of wait then again i had to repair cos i didnt find imovie iphoto etc cos it was in purchase itmes in itune but it also take ages and also i stopped migration through apple app cos of same problem took ages.so i was afraid if data was save somewhere so i restore again i start at 3pm and it 6.46 till its not even half of it and saying 33 hours left.i followed youtube videos they says their repair takes just half an hour!!!! plz need help.also i couldnt comment on my post they says u need 50 reputation..uff every where is obstacles! need help in detail and easy way.what mean by boot?

Can you dictate Emoji on iOS?

iOS (and presumably OS X) understands the underlying Unicode descriptions for Emoji icons. When reading iMessages back to you, Siri can use these descriptions to translate Emoji into words.

For example, Siri is able to describe all of the following:

• 😃 is read aloud as "happy face with open mouth"


• ❤️ is "red heart"


• 🍣 is "sushi"


• 💩 is read as "poop"

Is there a way to do this in reverse? That is, when I dictate to Siri or keyboard Dictation, translate what I say into an Emoji? Something like:

Let's go to the movies exclamation point emoji happy face with open mouth

and iOS would dictate that as:

Let's go to the movies! 😃

I've tried various command words but have not been able to find a way to do it. It may not be possible. Does anyone know for sure?

Boot camp only detects two out of three monitors

Setup: brand new MacBook Pro with Retina Display plus two 27" Thunderbolt displays. So, three displays in total, which works like a charm in OS X.

Unfortunately, when boot-camping into Windows 8.1, it detects only two of these: the one on the MacBook and the (first) external one:

Note that interestingly, the devices plugged into the secondary external monitor still work - e.g. all three cameras are there.

Any ideas?

Bootcamp not leting me to install windows 8.1 on my macbook pro 2012 mid and I am having Yosemite on my mac.

I have upgraded ssd and trying to use windows 8.1 and Yosemite both.

Getting Swedish Apple keyboard to map the same way in Bootcamp (Windows 7)

Whenever I use Windows 7 through Bootcamp, my keyboard mappings are totally different. Many special keys get mapped to what they would be on a PC keyboard, which is a real pain since I program on both platforms (and I am mostly used to the mac layout). The problem characters are these: []{}|\

On my SE Mac keyboard, I use these combinations:

• [] - any alt + 8/9


• {} - any alt + shift + 8/9


• | - any alt + 7


• \ - any alt + shift + 7

When in Bootcamp, it behaves like a Swedish PC keyboard:

• [] - right alt + 8/9


• {} - right alt + 7/0


• | - right alt + >


• \ - right alt + ?

I have tried numerous keyboard settings without any difference. I was able to switch control and command using a register key but I have found no way to switch the combinations above.

Is there any way to fix this?

As I understand it, US keyboards do not have this problem since the above keys maps the same way on Mac and PC keyboards. I really envy that...

How can I set up seamless navigation of vim and iterm2 splits?

I am trying to map my C-h, C-j, C-k, C-l keys to be able to navigate vim (running in iterm2) splits but if there is no vim split to move to it should figure out that I want to jump to a different iterm2 window.

Yep and Leap not displaying Finder tags – why?

I currently try Yep and Leap by Ironic Software with OS X 10.10.2. In the beginning, Leap showed me Finder tags in the file list and the tag panel on the right. Now they are not displayed anymore, but the files are still tagged (as you can see in the file information panel). Yep displays tags in the tag panel, but not in the file list. No sorting or search according to tags is possible in both applications. This happened a few days ago for the first time, then everything worked as expected. Other applications, e.g. LaunchBar, work fine with Finder tags. I unsuccessfully tried to rebuilt the Spotlight index.

Do other user encounter similar problems and what helps?

I spend a great deal of time outside the USA, but I only want to use Google.com. Not Google.com.zz. (Were zz is a two letter country code). In Chrome, when I type Google.com, I always want the search to be with Google.com. When using the omnibox, I want the search to be only Google.com.

And when I go to the bottom of the Google search page, I never want to see...

Why does my music keep playing when I answer my text messages? It used to quit playing as soon as I went in to my text. Now it keeps playing until it reaches the end of the music line.

Migration Assistant and ~previous system configuration files

I successfully ran Migration Assistant during the process of migrating a Mac on Mavericks to a new one on Yosemite.

On the source Mac, I made a few modifications on system configuration files for security reasons. These files are within the /etc directory:

/etc/services
/etc/sshd_config

After the run of Migration Assistant I found some of my modified configuration files under the same name but with a suffix of ~previous and my file was replaced by a new one without my modifications:

/etc/services
/etc/services~previous
/etc/sshd_config
/etc/sshd_configd~previous

I also found some other files with this ~previous suffix on files I didn't modify:

/etc/group
/etc/group~previous

Is this mechanism a kind of backup of Migration Assistant to protect a new system against potential incompatibility within configuration files?

Is the resulting new file the source one from Yosemite or a merge between the source one and my modified one?

Where is the managment of these ~previous files documented?

How should I deal with them?

(I already hunted the Knowledge Base about these files).

Mission control: Show all application windows in current desktop only

How can I see all windows which belong to the same app in some desktop? (in OSX 10.9-10.10)

I know about Mission Control -> Application windows but it shows all windows from all desktops.

Say I have TextEdit with 5 windows opened (window1, window2, ...) in 2 different desktops. Window1 and window2 are in desktop1 and Window3,4,5 are in desktop2. Desktop2 is a current desktop. How do I see windows3,4,5 of TextEdit in desktop2 in a similar/same manner as Application windows?

I just bought macbook pro os x Yosemite yesterday band new. I have been transferring files from windows to mac whole day then i wanted to make some changes in folder and i come to know that my disk utility folder is damaged or incomplete, i don't know how to fix it. How users are getting benefitted by hiding the hidden windows from Mission Control?

Some important features (such as showing all windows including the hidden ones) of Expose is not available in Mission Control which replaced the former in the recent versions of OS X.

If this decision of Apple is not an accidental mistake (I think so because this is happening through 2 or 3 successive versions of OS X), how users are getting benefitted by hiding the hidden windows from Mission Control? (Why Mission Control should not show all windows, by assigning appropriate styles to the hidden and minimised ones?)

User file very big

my users file in macbook air 11" is 30 GB. How can I free up some of this storage space? I can't upgrade to Yosemite until I have more free storage.

Where should I place shared folders on an OS X Server?

What is the appropriate/reccomended location in the drive hierarchy to place the folders shared by the users accessing the server (as fileserver) ?

Is it in /Groups /Users/Shared or ~/Documents/ ?

Or should I create a separate folder in /Users for each group ?
