Can I list netboot servers using bless?

At work I'm constantly checking people's computers and needing to netboot to different installers and OS'. Is there a way for me to use the 'bless -netboot' command and list the servers that are available to netboot to? The reason I ask is that on machines older than 2009 if you hold option it gives you the one network drive to boot to. That can get annoying if I'm needing to go to 2-3 different servers and it may just be quicker to use single user.

Outlook Edit Message

I am using the new outlook (Blue Icon) for OSX with a microsoft-online subscription account. I noticed there is an option called "Edit Message" when viewing an email in the sent-items.

i was under the impression this option will allow me to change an email after it was sent, as long as the recipient was in the same domain (exchange server)

Is my assumption correct? I am not able to find any reference regarding this feature in help.

After the last update of OS X Yosemite to Version 10.10.2 (14C81f) the issue seems fixed, but only for one day. Then all options gone again.

Delete Gmail Archive from Apple Mail but keep available online

i use apple’s mail application. it’s really great for getting me to stay on top of my email in a way i never could when i used web-based gmail.

but apple mail synced with my gmail means all of my gmail archive is downloaded onto my hard drive and has taken up all the space on my computer. if i delete the archived mail or remove attachments (a common suggestion to this problem online), it affects my actual gmail archive. i don’t want to delete messages or remove the attachments from the real message on the gmail cloud; i just want the attachments removed or messages removed from the archive on my computer.

i want to be able to user gmail from my mail application but i don’t want any of the archive to be stored on my local machine — just keep it up in the cloud where i can access it if i want.

is this possible???

Selective ringtone restore from older backup

I recently got iPhone 5S and was able to restore data from iCloud back up. However, my iTunes backup was more recent, and When I did sync from iTunes, I got the latest data too. So all good. But, my not-so-latest iCloud back up had a custom ringtone that I had created, which was removed when I synced from iTunes.

Is there a selective restore of the custom ringtone that I could now pull from the iCloud back up?

I have a Mac mini (Mac Mini 5,1 Mid 2011 , 2.3GHz intel Core i5, 4GB RAM)model that has a stock HDD (Toshiba MK5065GSX 500 GB SATA III 5400 RPM).Now the HDD has a SMART issue and I have ordered Seagate's ST500LM000 (500 GB laptop thin SSHD). The only thing I am worried now is that Toshiba HDD had 9.5mm size while the SSHD has 7mm thickness. Would new SSHD be compatible and inserted without any extra stuff,effort and adjustment OR should I stick to a 9.5mm drive only ?

Disassociate an Apple ID from a computer

There's a work computer (iMac) I'll soon stop using, which might be used by other people in the future.

While I've mainly used a separate work-only Apple ID on the computer, I suspect I may have used my personal Apple ID on the computer from time to time.

I want to make sure that my personal Apple ID isn't used in the future on the work computer. How do I ensure this is the case?

Upgrade to iCloud Drive: "...devices below will not be able to access..."

I'm running Yosemite on a mid-2012 MBP. When I try to upgrade to iCloud Drive on my iPad or my MBP it states that my MBP will not be able to access files on iCloud Drive until I upgrade it to Yosemite. I'm already running Yosemite. Is this a bug?

I am trying to create a new iCloud account. This requires me to enter security questions. I normally have no issue with this, but I am offered only 6 choices, and frankly I don't know the answers to any of them.

E.g. one asks for the name of my favourite primary teacher. None of them were, and I don't remember the names after 55 years.

How do I enter my own questions, which is what I normally do.

Can I change iCloud ID

I originally created an Apple ID for use on the App Store in iTunes. When Apple introduced iCloud my Apple ID ended up being used.

I would like to separate these. I don't want to lose my app purchases (which I would like to share with family), so creating a new iCloud ID seems the best option. I can't find any method of changing. Is this possible?

I assume if I create a new iCloud ID it would need to resynch everything.

How to update files without overwriting

I'm trying to figure out a way to update several text files with new content WITHOUT replacing the original files. Essentially, the files exist on a shared webdav (network drive), and the software reading the files has created generic "permanent links" to the files.

I have copied all of the files (about 600 of them) off the webdav onto my computer and painstakingly updated each and every one of them. But when I copy them back onto the webdav, it breaks the permanent links. Is there any way to do an "update" copy instead of a "replace" copy in os x? That way, the file doesn't get deleted and replaced, and instead just updates the contents of the files?

Imovie Clip not rendering

I imported some videos from my phone onto my laptop. They are mp4 files and when i play them they play properly. However, when I import them into Imovie they are all really laggy and the video lags behind the audio. I tried to delete them and import them again many times and it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Ridiculous number of unnecessary birthday calendars that can't be deleted

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.1. My Calendar app is showing me a ridiculous number of birthday calendars ("Friends' Birthdays" under Gmail, "Birthdays" under Facebook, and 8 separate calendars named "Birthdays" under "Other"). This is what the list of calendars looks like:

I have no idea how they got there. I am syncing the Calendar app with Google, Facebook, and Meetup, but I can't imagine how that would produce such a ridiculous number.

What can I do about these? I would like to delete or merge some of them but the app is not giving me the option. Is it possible to delete most of them without losing anyone's birthday?

If I look at the Calendar app on my Mac (which is running Yosemite), I don't see all of these calendars. I only see one under Google that says "Birthdays", another under Google that says "Friends' Birthdays", and one under Other that says "Birthdays".

Performance Tweaks/Tools for MacOS (Macbook Pro)

I am using a Mid2010 Macbook Pro (2.5 GHz i5, 8GB RAM, regular HD (no SSD) and still on MacOS 10.9).

I am fully aware of the fact that, as the computer gets older, it may get a little slower due to more space used on the HD, more applications installed etc. etc. However, I feel that in the last few months I feel like the performance has degraded more than it should be. What do I mean by that? Well, it takes longer and longer for me to boot the Mac, applications take longer to start and it happens more and more often that they simple freeze for a short moment. Lately, I even had to use a cold reboot by pressing the on/off button long because the whole system froze when I was simply watching some videos.

Now, I am looking in how to get a little bit of the performance back, i.e., either some tips that I can directly use in the OS or some tools which help me. Unforunately, googleing them brought up a whole bunch of differerent tools, not all of them looking extremely reliable. I'd be grateful if some of you have a couple of tips for me.

Up Arrow Key Shows Application Windows (without having set it up as a shortcut)

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and whenever I press my up arrow key, mission control will display the application windows while also performing whatever action the up key is expected to (e.g. move the cursor up in a text field). I checked the mission control and keyboard preferences and made sure that the up key wasn't mapped to any shortcut. When I found that there was no problem there, I tried unchecking the "application windows" shortcut in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Mission Control then tried pressing the up key and it played the alert sound and still performed the expected action. Then I went to System Preferences > Mission Control and found that there's no way to even map the up key to a shortcut there. So I'm really confused as to where this shortcut is set and it is a really annoying problem, anybody know where how this could be happening despite not being set in System Preferences? Is this simply a bug that has been/will be resolved in an update (it seems like too major of a problem to make its way into a release though)?

Ipad stuck in Sign In To ICloud

Cant stop Sign In to ICloud, what do I do., , I have turned off ICloud server but the sign in box keeps flashing up every few seconds.

Creating symlinks in "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft" that point to Dropbox, but "the original item for "[file]" can’t be found."

The Background: I use Dropbox to back up my minecraft worlds, configuration files, and various other folders (bin, launcher_profiles.json, mods, resourcepacks, saves, servers.dat, versions). I put symbolic links in "~/Library/Application Support/minecraft" which point to the files and folders in Dropbox.

The Problem: Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite, the symbolic links don't work anymore, giving the error "The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “[file]” can’t be found." I can't think of any reason that the links wouldn't work anymore. Any help appreciated.

Bonjour visibility dropping over ethernet only

I'm using a recently purchased 2012 Mac Mini and installed the latest Yosemite. So far, it's being used headless as an iTunes server and I also have OS X Server 4 running on it for some basic home server stuff.

I'm using the Finder's Screen Sharing to log into it. This works fine over Wi-Fi. However, when I use ethernet, it will work for a while, then just drop out of nowhere. I'm guessing that Bonjour is dropping as I can no longer see the Mini in the Finder server list. I haven't been able to find a pattern as to why it is dropping yet. I have to hook in a keyboard, mouse, and monitor; then re-enable wi-fi, and it pops up in the list again. I would rather just hook it into my Airport Extreme using ethernet and leave wi-fi off.

In iTunes it also drops out of Home Sharing along with the Finder view. I've tried 'Connect to Server' using the IP, and nothing.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Make a specific tag the default widow in OS X finder

I've got a tag in OS X which is labeled "To-do", and I want that Finder shows the files (and folders) that are labelled with this tag when I open a new finder window. So that the view that is shown when I click the tag in the sidebar to be set as Finders default view for new windows.

I have tried changing the option of default location in Finders settings, but I can only choose folders there. I have also tried using a smart folder with the tag as the only search condition, but smart folders are also not allowed to be chosen as default location in Finder. Right now I'm using "all my files" as default location, sorted by tag where I made sure that my "To-do" tag is at top, by naming it "1To-do". However, this is also unsatisfactory, since "all my files" does not show the folders that I've tagged.

Any suggestions appreciated!

use cable box external drive for time machine backups

I have a cable box that has usb ports. I plugged in an external hdd to one of the usb ports and I can access it from my mac book pro (yosemite) using ftp.

I would like to use this drive for my time machine backups since I don't want to plug in my hdd to my laptop every few days.

I tried transmit to mount the drive but time machine doesn't recognize it as an external drive.

Any way to make this work?

With Yosemite we got handy, growl-like, alert popups from the notification center. It's great but it often hides handy utils which also take the top right position of the screen.

Snow Leopard to Yosemite update button dark grey and disabled

Sign in without credit card if the Apple id is already created

I have create my apple Id online using chrome and not from the App store or Itunes. Now when i try to download any free app from the app store it gives me a error that the Apple id i am using has never been used before. It takes me to a different page where i have to agree to the agreement and demands the credit card info on the next screen where the "none" option is not available.
