System preferences tells me that I have Java 8 Update 40 on my Mac Book Pro. However, Eclipse IDE complains that it needs at least version 1.7 or greater. And on the console, java -version tells me, I have version 1.6.0_65.
What exactly is the problem here and how can I completely update Java on my Mac?
