move file from snow leopard to mountain lion

i have snow leopard and mountain lion in separate partitions on the same imac. running snow leopard i can copy a turbotax data file from the snow leopard partion to mountain lion but when i boot mountain lion the file is not visible in mountain lion. something simple? hope this makes sense to someone. thanks,
