How (if possible) to change aesthetics of scrollbars?

I like to work with scrollbars always visible, especially when working with a traditional mouse, but I don't like the ultra-skinny, rounded-corner scrollbars when "always visible" is turned on.

How (if possible) do I customize the scrollbars?
