Grant acces for accounting software to other mac in the network

On Computer1 i got an accounting software that i would like for Computer2 to run trough the local network but the database from the accounting software should be stored in computer 1?

Can i give access with read/write permission for the app or is remote desktop the only way to get it to work?

I would like to user computer 1 meantime the computer 2 is running the accounting software.

Both Computers is imac's running yosemite.
