Moving configuration from one computer to another

I am about to switch to a new computer and would like to make the process of reinstalling all the apps easier.

What I need to reinstall are mainly:

• ~/Applications/ directory (probably together with some settings of these applications, stored in different directories


• MacPorts' and Homebrew ports and


• all of my dotfiles (e.g. ~/.bashrc, .vimrc)

Is there any software I could use to automate some of these export-import/reinstall tasks for me?
